Rashmi Benda, MD, a radiation oncologist at BRCH, was instrumental in the development of the new technology, which delivers an additional dose of radiation accurately and reliably for breast cancer patients. • The Harvey & Phyllis Sandler Pavilion, housing the Lynn Cancer Institute and our outpatient Imaging Center, won a Building of America Award and was featured in Real Estate and Construction Review - Florida Edition. • The Foundation funded the purchase of Endobronchial Ultrasonography (EBUS). The technology allows the physician to perform real time biopsies of lymph nodes under accurate ultrasound guidance as well as other mediastinal masses and accurately stage lung cancer. • The Institute for Women’s Health & Wellness/Center for Breast Care
Looking Forward to Continuing Success recently acquired the Lunar Bone Densitometer, which measures the density of the spine, hip and other bones. This highly precise densitometer helps identify risk at a much earlier stage and can evaluate response to treatment. It is now available in both the Boca Raton and Deerfield Beach locations. • The Palm Beach County Health Department and the Healthcare Emergency Response Coalition of Palm Beach County (HERC) recently presented BRCH with a Leadership Award as the first hospital in Palm Beach County to implement the ESSENCE syndromic surveillance system. The new technology transmits electronic Emergency Department data to the Palm Beach County Health Department for early notification and assessment of possible epidemics. • BRCH has acquired the latest cardiac mapping technology used in the treatment of cardiac arrhythmias, allowing cardiologists to visualize the heart in 3D. This, in turn, enhances the physician’s ability to maneuver a catheter throughout the heart and increases control over its placement in specific locations. • Novalis Tx image-guided radiosurgery is now available at the Lynn Cancer Institute site in Delray Beach, providing convenient access to this highly advanced radiation therapy option for treatment of cancerous lesions of the entire body.
