base coat, the desired color on color mixing systems as you know them from hardware stores is mixed<br />

within minutes. Unlike the competition, Zobel is always limited to only one base coat. This reduces the<br />

number of products, prevents confusion and minimizes storage. The color is realized through solventfree<br />

and extremely weather-resistant pigment pastes.<br />

Zobel products such as <strong>Zowo</strong>-<strong>plast</strong> ® are »green«.<br />

This is based on the composition of water-based<br />

<strong>Zowo</strong>-<strong>plast</strong> ® single-layer coatings, which are free<br />

of isocyanate. Add to this a pronounced ecological<br />

efficiency in the form of consumption economy<br />

values through single-layer coating without complex<br />

layer structures in combination with very small<br />

material requirements. This is possible due to<br />

the good running and covering properties of<br />

<strong>Zowo</strong>-<strong>plast</strong> ® .<br />

Completely free of labeling regulations, without<br />

Qualities<br />

Durability as a promise …<br />

With polyurethane technology, <strong>Zowo</strong>-<strong>plast</strong> ® offers<br />

excellent resistance through very good adhesion<br />

and excellent flow. It is particularly suitable for<br />

large areas with a calm surface. The PVC singlelayer<br />

coat is scratch- and abrasion-resistant like a<br />

parquet coating. It resists wind and weather through<br />

its seemingly indestructible polyurethane<br />

base combined with excellent elasticity and tensility.<br />

Safety of toys …<br />

<strong>Zowo</strong>-<strong>plast</strong> ® is physiologically harmless. For example<br />

it absolutely complies with the heavy metal limit<br />

values required by EN 71-3 (safety of toys) and is<br />

saliva- and perspiration-resistant as per DIN 53160<br />

Parts 1 and 2. Additionally, Part 3 of the study<br />

confirms compliance with limit values for its migration<br />

behavior in all elements studied.<br />

Individuality<br />

Broad processing range …<br />

<strong>Zowo</strong>-<strong>plast</strong> ® allows the user a wide range of<br />

applications, ranging from the coating of individual<br />

objects to series production. <strong>Zowo</strong>-<strong>plast</strong> ® can be<br />

processed manually with a spray gun (air pressure<br />

cup or air-assisted) or industrially with an automatic<br />

coating line or vacuum coater. The solid colors<br />

are also suitable for brush and roller application.<br />

Easy welding of profiles is possible …<br />

Welding of profiles at temperatures around 250 °C<br />

is possible without damaging the surrounding coating<br />

surface. The groove resulting from the removal of<br />

the weld bead can be easily finished, for example<br />

using the original coating material and a brush.<br />

Economy<br />

Material and process cost optimization …<br />

With the single-layer <strong>Zowo</strong>-<strong>plast</strong> ® system, you<br />

can reduce your material store – and this regardless<br />

of whether you prefer solid-, textured structureor<br />

a metallic-color system. The coating process<br />

requires only a cleaning step and a painting step.<br />

This saves time and resources.<br />

Time is money …<br />

<strong>Zowo</strong>-<strong>plast</strong> ® single-layer coatings can be dried at<br />

room temperature or more rapidly at temperatures<br />

around 40 °C. It goes even faster with Zobel<br />

HaloDry ® (halogen drying). With this system,<br />

coating to foiling takes no longer than 12 minutes.<br />

painting, but, in consultation with you, can gladly<br />

Low investment and set-up costs compared<br />

to other color methods …<br />

In terms of the coloring of PVC building components,<br />

the coating competes with such techniques<br />

as foiling, »through and through« coloring during<br />

extrusion and the application of a coloring layer<br />

by coextrusion. It is common to all these competing<br />

techniques that they entail high costs for the<br />

purchase of the necessary technique. In addition,<br />

color or foil changes mean long conversion times<br />

and waste. This makes these alternative techniques<br />

mainly suited for large quantities and a limited<br />

number of colors.<br />

It’s different at <strong>Zowo</strong>-<strong>plast</strong> ® – here you always<br />

have access to a wide variety of colors that can<br />

be customized quickly by the appropriate color<br />

<strong>Zowo</strong>-<strong>plast</strong> ® adheres not only to PVC-U, but also to other substrates and <strong>plast</strong>ic surfaces such<br />

as powder-coated aluminum. For this purpose <strong>Zowo</strong>-<strong>plast</strong> ® can be used in conjunction with a<br />

primer or the addition of a hardener that makes a 2C-system of the 1C, or processed in combination<br />

with requirements for drying at temperatures up to 60 °C.<br />

Dimensionally stable despite high Temperatures –<br />

with <strong>Zowo</strong>-<strong>plast</strong> ® plus Anti-Heat formula by Zobel your PVC building<br />

components stay in form.<br />

Depending on the color, coated<br />

surfaces are sometimes subject<br />

to strong heating in the sun. The<br />

reason for this is that, in addition<br />

to the UV and the visible range,<br />

sunlight also contains the IR range.<br />

IR radiation makes a consideration<br />

contribution to object heating as<br />

»heat radiator«. For PVC building<br />

components temperatures above<br />

70 °C can be critical, because softening<br />

and deformation can occur.<br />

Zobel Anti-Heat color recipes limit<br />

the heating of PVC building components<br />

by up to 30 °C. This is<br />

due to the reflective effect of the<br />

Anti-Heat formula which efficiently<br />

prevents the absorption of IR radiation<br />

and the associated heating.<br />

PCV coated with Anti-Heat colors<br />

hardly becomes warmer than uncoated<br />

white PVC. How good the<br />

Anti-Heat colors really are is shown<br />

in a comparison with uncoated<br />

PVC.<br />

Depending on its quality, this also<br />

heats up to 25 °C compared to the<br />

ambient temperature. The heating<br />

of the Anti-Heat colors is almost<br />

exactly in this area.<br />

The conversion of <strong>Zowo</strong>-<strong>plast</strong> ®<br />

colors to Anti-Heat colors<br />

through the exchange of only<br />

two pigment pastes is incredibly<br />

easy.<br />

The Zobel Anti-Heat tinting pastes<br />

are fully integrated into our paint<br />

mixing concept. Through the exchange<br />

of only two pastes of the<br />

existing spectrum of Zobel tinting<br />

pastes, the user opens up the full<br />

spectrum of Anti-Heat colors.<br />

16 pigment pastes are required<br />

for the comprehensive coloring<br />

of the <strong>Zowo</strong>-<strong>plast</strong> ® system.<br />
