Ladies and Gentlemen,
The geographic location in Europe at a key point of international contacts, two modern sea ports
and an international airport, intensively developed road and railway infrastructure, over 1.2 million educated
and entrepreneurial inhabitants, nearly thirty establishments of higher education, more than three thousand
businesses with foreign equity participation, hundreds of businesses in the hi-tech sector, wide beaches, amber,
and millions of tourists…
This is the picture of the dynamically developing Gdańsk Metropolitan Area made up of a number of neighbouring
and closely cooperating local communities of the Pomeranian Voivodship. The Metropolitan Area stretches over eight
poviats, including a conurbation of three municipalities, each a poviat in itself, all working hand in hand in search
for solutions conducive to swifter social and economic development at the local and regional levels.
Perceiving the new opportunities opening before the local authorities when they join forces to attract new investors
and create new jobs, we have become one of the quickest developing agglomerations in Poland. The sense of unity
in the Area is not accidental. It is based on mutual links in education, culture, transport and communication,
housing and labour markets.
The human capital, convenient location, focused effort on infrastructure development, and high quality of life,
combined with a base of efficient services available to the residents and businesses in large cities and rural areas
alike, add up creating a background which fosters development and equips the metropolis with instruments, which
enable it to compete successfully against other similar centres in Poland and the Baltic Sea Region.
The Gdańsk Metropolitan Area is worth a closer interest not only due to its social and economic advantages, but also
because of its rich history, highly diverse culture, its exceptionally attractive location and the values of the natural
environment which in times immemorial attracted men so much as to settle in the area and today enhance
the unquestioned tourist advantages of the Metropolitan Area.
Our combined potential is an asset which pertains to and encourages new projects which will consolidate our own
and our investors’ position on the economic map of Poland and the united Europe. Many success stories and
the satisfaction shared by our international investors testify best to the fact that the Gdańsk Metropolitan Area
is now and will continue to support bold, new ventures.
