and although there is no strict dress code, 

we would recommend you take comfortable, 

casual clothing for daytime shore excursions 

and time spent at leisure on the ship. 

Evenings aboard are elegant affairs and most 

people opt for smart-casual attire. For the 

more formal Captain’s Gala Dinner men will 

feel comfortable in a suit and tie, whilst ladies 

usually wear cocktail dresses or similar.

we’ve included plenty of storage space and individually controlled air-conditioning to keep the 

temperature just how you like it. the twin beds are hotel standard and there is a seating area for 

relaxation. All cabins have flat-screen satellite tV, phone, fridge, tea and coffee-making facilities, 

safe and a hairdryer.

Your holiday starts with either a flight from the UK to Dusseldorf 

or the Eurostar from St Pancras to Brussels with an onward

Day 2 Cologne 

Cologne is a wonderful city to explore and has much to offer 

visitors including a vibrant atmosphere and a rich history which 

is evident in its architecture. Visit its main square, where you 

will see the magnificent cathedral - its soaring spires were once 

the tallest structures in the world. Optional excursions on offer 

today include a walking tour of the city or a panoramic tour by

Day 3 Rüdesheim 

Via the stunning riverscape of the mighty Lorelei Rock you 

will step ashore this afternoon in Rüdesheim, a pretty wineproducing 

town. Join our optional excursion to Siegfried’s 

Mechanical Music Museum, which houses an impressive 

collection of automated musical instruments, or join us as we 

try some of the region’s fine Riesling wines. 

Day 4 speyeR 

Located along the banks of the River Rhine, Speyer is home to 

one of Germany’s largest and most important cathedrals, the 

11th century Imperial Cathedral. Spend an afternoon making 

your own discoveries. A walk along the Maximilianstrasse 

reveals excellent examples of colourful Baroque and Rococo 

architecture. 

Day 5 stRasboURg 

Today you cross into France and arrive in medieval Strasbourg 

where you will spend the day. This is a beautiful city of canals, 

rivers and elegant buildings which has a wealth of historic 

sights. Be sure to join our optional city tour to see the very best 

of Strasbourg. 

Day 6 basel 

Basel is located where the French, Swiss and German borders 

meet. Take an optional tour of Bernese Oberland to experience 

the stunning beauty of the region. Home to the dramatic Eiger, 

Monch and Jungfrau, you will travel through picturesque alpine 

regions, past sparkling waterfalls and through lush valleys. 

Day 7 bReisaCh 

The charming city of Breisach is home to some superb medieval 

buildings. Explore at your own pace or take the opportunity to 

join our optional tour of the Black Forest, one of Germany’s most 

popular destinations. 

Day 8 mannheim 

This morning you arrive in Mannheim. Many writers and painters 

have been drawn to its charming historic centre and university 

quarter. Take time to explore them for yourself or from here, join 

our optional excursion to historic Heidelberg, set majestically 

on the banks of the Neckar and surrounded by hills. The ruins of 

the beautiful medieval Heidelberg Castle stand high on the steep 

bank of the river and overlook the city below. 

Day 9 Koblenz 

This afternoon you arrive in Koblenz. One of Germany’s oldest 

cities, it sits at the point where the Rhine meets the Moselle. 

The beautifully restored old town centre is renowned for its 

picturesque winding streets, noble mansions, ancient churches 

and pretty little squares. High above the city is the immense 

Ehrenbreitstein Castle, one of the largest in the world and now 

home to some excellent museums. Learn about its fascinating 

2,000-year history, including the Roman walls and beautiful old 

quarter on our optional walking tour. 

Day 10 bonn & Cologne 

The MV Serenade I arrives in Bonn this morning. Explore the 

former West German capital at your leisure, perhaps visiting 

the fine Bonner Munster. One of Germany’s oldest churches, it 

shares a pretty three-cornered square with the Rococo Town 

Hall and a statue of Beethoven, who was born in the city. Or 

why not join our optional city tour. Enjoy lunch on board as your 

cruise continues on to Cologne. After arrival in the afternoon, 

explore its highlights at your leisure, including the old town and 

the bustling cobbled streets around its magnificent cathedral. 

Day 11 Cologne/UK 

Your cruise concludes today as you disembark in Cologne. You

Your cruise begins in vibrant Cologne, where the MV Serenade 

I is moored. Choose between flying to Dusseldorf, or take the

Day 2 CoChem 

The afternoon is spent in picturesque Cochem; perhaps enjoy 

a gentle stroll amongst the half-timbered houses or along 

the riverside promenade. High above the town is the mighty 

Reichsburg castle, one of the most famous on the Moselle, and 

offering stunning views across the surrounding countryside 

and down to the river below. Avoid the climb up the steep hill by

You sail overnight to Bernkastel. 

Day 3 beRnKastel & zell 

You are at leisure to explore Bernkastel, an attractive wine town, 

this morning - the charming old town is full of colour-washed 

houses topped by steep gabled roofs. Alternatively, why not 

make the most of your time by joining an optional excursion 

to the ancient Roman town of Trier. Here you can see the 

many legacies of Trier’s history as the region’s Roman capital, 

including the fortified gates of Porta Nigra, the cathedral and the 

amphitheatre, now an atmospheric ruin. 

MV Serenade I sets sails for Zell this afternoon, pausing briefly 

in this lovely wine town before continuing towards Rudesheim. 


Experience one of the scenic highlights of your cruise, as you 

pass through the magnificent Rhine Gorge, past vine-clad slopes 

and the striking castles of the former medieval robber barons. 

You arrive in Rüdesheim early this afternoon, and will have the 

opportunity to discover this lively town, set in one of the finest 

winemaking regions in Germany. Be sure to take a unique 

optional opportunity to step back to the early days of recorded 

sound at the entertaining Siegfried’s Mechanical Music Museum. 

Day 5 mainz & boppaRd 

The historic university town of Mainz is your destination this 

morning. You’ll really get to know the town, birthplace of Johann 

Gutenberg, on an optional city tour. The inventor of the printing 

press, Gutenberg is celebrated in the eponymous museum here, 

which houses the prized Gutenberg Bible. 

Your cruise continues towards Boppard at lunchtime, arriving 

in the late afternoon. This appealing town sits right in the 

heart of the Rhine Gorge, nestled on the banks of one of the 

river’s largest loops. You’ll be able to go ashore and explore 

this evening. 

Day 6 boppaRd & Koblenz 

Morning free in Boppard to explore further, or join our optional 

walking tour. After lunch we set sail for Koblenz, one of 

Germany’s oldest cities. The ancient walls, castle towers, 

palaces and patrician houses are vivid illustrations of the city’s 

turbulent past. The beautifully restored old town centre, the 

altstadt, is renowned for its pretty winding streets, romantic 

little squares, noble mansions and ancient churches. Above the 

city is the vast Ehrenbreitstein Castle, one of the largest in the 

world. 

Day 7 Cologne 

You arrive in Cologne at breakfast time. A gentle optional

DAY 3 Belgrade 

You arrive in historic Belgrade today, the ancient capital of Serbia. 

An optional city tour will reveal the story of this remarkable city. 

Highlights include the Orthodox cathedral, the Square of the 

Republic and the mighty Kalemegdan Fortress which dominates 

the old town. 

DAY 4 crUising 

Enjoy a day cruising the unique Iron Gate region. This sixty-mile 

stretch of river used to be narrow and perilous, with numerous 

rocks on the river bed. Today it is a much safer journey – the water 

level has been raised and the hazards removed. Find a spot on 

deck to take in the superb views of the traverse and the two locks 

of the Djerdap Hyrdroelectric Dam. 

DAY 5 roUsse 

You arrive in the attractive town of Rousse this morning. Make 

the most of your time here by joining your Tour Manager on an 

optional tour to Bucharest, the Romanian capital. Known as ‘Little 

Paris’ during the 1930s, it is an eclectic city with a real mix of 

architectural styles.

The cruise arrives in pretty Silistra this morning; why not join an 

optional scenic drive through rural Bulgaria to Varna, one of the 

real gems of the Black Sea. The afternoon is free for your own

From Cernavoda, enjoy your included transfer to the ancient Black

Nestled at the base of a mountain, Svistov enjoys a mild climate

for its grand buildings perched on the banks of the Yatra.

impressive onion domes of the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral. Rejoin

Day 1 UK/oPorto 

After flying to Oporto, you’ll slow down your pace and transfer 

to your river cruiser, the MS Infante D. Henrique – your home for 

the next seven nights. You’ll get straight into cruise culture with 

a welcome drink and dinner on board, followed by the option of 

a night-time panoramic tour of Oporto. 

Day 2 oPorto 

Before you get too accustomed to life on the water, take the 

opportunity to join a tour of Oporto, the world-famous home 

of port wine. After a gentle stroll through the steep, winding 

streets of the old town, with its grand archways and magnificent 

churches, you’ll head to Vila Nova de Gaia and one of the 

region’s famous port producers for a tour and well-earned 

tasting. The afternoon can be spent exploring Oporto under your 

own steam. Dinner on board this evening is followed by a night 

of dancing and folk music. 

Day 3 oPorto & regUa 

Spend the morning relaxing, or why not join an optional 

excursion to Braga, known locally as the ‘Portuguese Rome’. 

In the afternoon your cruise then begins in style, as you sail 

through the spectacular scenery of the Douro Valley and the 

famous Crestuma and Carapatello locks, the highest in Europe. 

Now you’re on top of the world, you’ll cruise along to the town of 

Regua where dinner will be served on board. 

Day 4 barca d’alva 

A wine synonymous with long hot summer afternoons, fruity 

Mateus rosé is produced in this region, and you can join an 

optional tour to the town of Vila Real to wander in the beautiful 

gardens of Solar de Mateus. The town also boasts an impressive 

Gothic cathedral and a 16-arch Roman bridge to admire before 

you return to your ship in Pinhao, the very heart of the port 

producing region. 

The pace is slow and relaxing as you spend a leisurely afternoon 

cruising through rolling hills, terraced vineyards, picturesque 

villages and the locks of Valeira and Pocinho, then the pace 

lifts as you arrive at Barca d’Alva on the Spanish boarder, and 

your evening’s entertainment comes on board in the form of 

traditional flamenco dancers. 

Day 5 salaManca & vega de teron 

After breakfast on board, you can join an optional excursion to 

the ancient university city of Salamanca. Outdating even Oxford 

and Cambridge, the university is a stunning sight, and you will 

find the city both culturally exciting and gloriously intimate at 

the same time. You can explore the fascinating architecture of 

its endless elegant streets or take to the main square for a more 

gentle exploration. The square is said to be the most impressive 

in the whole of Spain, so a good place to relax over a coffee. 

You’ll rejoin the ship for dinner and entertainment and set sail 

again for Vega de Teron. 

Day 6 Ferradosa & Pinhao 

The locks of Valeira and Pocinho are this morning’s highlights, 

en route to Ferradosa. From here you can join an optional port 

wine excursion and a tasting in a local quinta, then make your 

way back to your cruiser for a spectacular gala dinner and 

overnight docking at Pinhao. 

Day 7 laMego & oPorto 

You can choose to relax on board or join an optional excursion to 

Lamego today, a medieval town set against a stunning backdrop 

of all-important vineyards. You’ll be shown around the town, 

fully exploring its wealth of ornate Baroque buildings, including 

the celebrated shrine of Nossa Senhora dos Remedios – its 

reputation for healing miracles brings pilgrims here from all 

over Portugal. 

A final afternoon cruise back through the stunning scenery 

will return you in style to Oporto. Then for your final night on 

the water you’ll be treated to a fabulous farewell dinner and a 

traditional folklore show. 

Day 8 oPorto/UK 

Your cruise comes to an end this morning, and we’ll transfer you

Your holiday starts with a flight or the Eurostar to Paris with an 

onward transfer to the Quai de Grenelle where you will board

level). Shimmering lights play on the water as you glide by the

Day 2 Paris/les andelys/roUen 

This morning, your ship will pass through a number of locks, 

and by towns such as Conflans-Sainte-Honorine, considered 

the capital of the French inland waterways due to it strategic 

position at the confluence of the Seine and Oise Rivers. Enjoy 

lunch on board before arrival at Andelys early this afternoon. 

From here the ship sails on to Rouen. You may choose to join 

our optional excursion to the Chateau of Martainville, a grand 

residence built in 1485, now a museum showcasing collections 

of traditional furniture and clothing and giving a fascinating 

insight into daily life in the region. After dinner why not join 

an optional guided walking tour of this ancient city by night, 

which takes you by the Place du Marché, where Joan of Arc was 

burned at the stake. Your ship departs Rouen tonight, setting 

sail for Honfleur. 

Day 3 roUen/honFleUr 

Enjoy breakfast before arrival in Honfleur, a delightful medieval 

town draped around a beautiful 17th century harbour. Join 

our optional guided walking tour of the town through its 

picturesque streets which are home to many well-preserved 

historic buildings, and admire St Catherine’s Church, which 

is made entirely out of wood. In the afternoon, we offer an 

optional excursion to the Côte Fleurie where a tour of a calvados 

distillery has been arranged. See how Normandy’s famous 

apple brandy is made and purchase a bottle to take back home. 

This evening as our cruise continues, we’ll pass beneath the 

impressive Pont de Normandie before the ship heads along the 

River Seine.

Enjoy a day’s sailing today. Sit back, relax and enjoy the scenery 

as you pass picturesque riverside towns such as Caudebec en 

Caux and Vernon. Enjoy dinner and a gala evening on your final 

evening on the ship. A ‘guinguette’ will be created on board – 

emblematic of Paris, these were open-air dance halls on the

This morning we offer an optional tour of Lyon by coach. 

France’s second city and gastronomic capital is situated at the 

confluence of the Rhone and Saône rivers and is noted for its 

Roman remains and medieval quarters. During lunch the ship 

sets sail for Macon. Relax and admire the scenery as you cruise 

through the beautiful Burgundy countryside, one of France’s 

most famous wine-growing regions. Before mooring at Macon, 

enjoy dinner and an evening of dancing and entertainment. 

Day 3 Macon/vienne 

Our optional excursion today visits the Benedictine Abbey at 

Cluny, one of the most magnificent in France. Lunch will be 

served on board the ship as it heads to Vienne. Spend a relaxing 

afternoon and evening on board the ship, before arriving in 

Vienne, where the ship moors for the night. 

Day 4 vienne/avignon 

After breakfast why not join our optional tour of Vienne. With 

a history dating back some 2,000 years, there are many listed 

historical monuments to admire, including a host of relics left by 

the Romans and the Cathedral of St Maurice. Return to the ship 

and set sail for Avignon. Cruising along the Rhone, take in the 

beautiful scenery you’ll pass as dinner is served. Your journey 

continues through the night. 

Day 5 avignon/arles 

After an early arrival in Avignon, you’ll have the opportunity to 

join our optional excursion to the City of the Popes and the Papal 

Palace, a fortress set high on a rocky outcrop and surrounded 

by city walls. The palace is a major feat of Gothic architecture 

dating from the 14th century and the formal residence of the 

sovereign pontiffs. The ship then sails to Arles, where you 

may join our optional excursion through the Camargue, an 

exceptional nature reserve where sea, wetlands and pools 

are inhabited by a huge variety of water fowl. Saintes-Mariesde-la-Mer 

is built on an island in the heart of the Camargue 

where the Petit Rhône joins the sea. It is the location of a 

twice-yearly pilgrimage by gypsies from all over Europe and 

home to the fortified church of Notre-Dame-de-la-Mer. Enjoy 

some free time here making your own discoveries. Back on the 

ship, a Provençal Folklore evening has been arranged for your 

entertainment after dinner has been served. 

Day 6 arles/viviers 

After breakfast, you may choose to join our optional tour of 

Arles. The town dates back to the 7th century BC and boasts 

Roman treasures including the Arena and the Theater, which 

are integrated into the houses and buildings here. We will then 

head into the country, or arrière pays, where we learn how 

Provençal olive oil is made before heading back to the ship for 

lunch. Setting sail for Viviers enjoy a relaxing afternoon afloat. 

This evening you will be entertained by the ship’s crew. We moor 

in Viviers overnight. 

Day 7 viviers/tain l’herMitage 

Join us this morning on our optional tour of Viviers this morning. 

An open-air museum, this medieval city is also home to the 

smallest cathedral in France. After lunch, sit back and admire 

the views as we sail towards Tain l’Hermitage, where we 

arrive late afternoon. This wine-growing region produces some 

excellent Côtes du Rhone, which you can try for yourself during 

our optional wine-tasting excursion. A Gala Dinner, dancing and 

entertainment has been arranged on the ship this evening.

the Doges’ Palace, the seat of Venetian government for many 

centuries. Lunch is served on board before today’s second 

optional excursion to the islands in the Lagoon. First stop 

is the beautiful little island of Murano, the home of Venice’s 

glassmaking industry, followed by Burano, which is famed for its 

lacework and its brightly-coloured quayside houses. 

day 3 chioggia/taglio di Po 

A relaxing morning afloat is on the agenda today as the ship 

sets sail through the Venice lagoon to the River Po and Chioggia. 

In the afternoon, join us on our optional guided visit to Padua. 

Well known as the setting for Shakespeare’s The Taming of the 

Shrew, Padua is also referred to as the town of St Anthony and 

our tour involves a visit to the Santo Basilica. Later, you’ll have 

time to discover more at your own pace – why not pay a visit to 

the magnificent 19th century Caffé Pedrocchi, one of the largest 

cafés in the world, a popular haunt for artists and locals alike. 

Back on board enjoy dinner as the ship cruises to Taglio di Po, 

arriving late evening and mooring here for the night. 

Day 4 taglio di Po/Polesella (For verona) 

The ship arrives in Polesella late morning. After lunch on board 

join our optional excursion to Verona. This town has the largest 

collection of Roman remains and artefacts in northern Italy and 

is known throughout the world as the setting of Shakespeare’s 

tragic love story, Romeo and Juliet. 

Day 5 Polesella 

Set off on this morning’s optional excursion to discover Ferrara. 

A UNESCO World Heritage Site, this Renaissance town is 

surrounded by a continuous wall almost 9km (5.6 miles) long. 

It is one of the oldest and most impressive defensive systems 

of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, using all the defence 

techniques of the 1400s and 1500s; city gates, bastions, large

Day 1 UK/Moscow 

Arrive in Moscow on your flight from the UK. You will be transferred 

to the ship where you will enjoy dinner on-board this evening. 

Day 2 Moscow 

Moscow is a dynamic city, bursting at the seams with awe-inspiring 

architecture, rousing museums, ancient monuments, memorials and 

ruins from the Soviet period. Enjoy getting to know the city on your 

included tour. Later you will have plenty of time to make your own 

discoveries of Moscow, perhaps take the Metro and admire some 

of the beautiful underground stations or stand in the famous Red 

Square. 

Day 3 Moscow 

Encounter more of Moscow today as you have another full day in 

the city. Your included tour takes you to the symbol of the Russian 

state - the magnificent Kremlin. Explore the red brick towers and 

glorious cathedrals of the Kremlin and discover exquisite treasures 

in the Armoury. Golden-domed cathedrals, magnificent palaces 

and beautiful buildings line the streets and squares of the Moscow 

Kremlin; all of which have been carefully created over many 

centuries. We depart Moscow this evening. 

Day 4 Uglitch 

The ancient town of Uglitch is our port of call after lunch today. Your 

included walking tour this afternoon enables you to discover more of 

Uglitch, including the Church of St. Dmitry on the Blood. The church 

is a memorial to the young son of Ivan the Terrible, Dimitri, who is 

said to have died tragically in the city after he was exiled here in the 

late 1500’s. 

Day 5 goritsy 

The name Goritsy means ‘hills’ in Russian and it is upon the 

namesake that this small town sits overlooking a calm, blue lake. 

One of the religious havens in this vast country it is home to the 

Kirillo-Belozersky monastery, which is one of the oldest in the world. 

Discover more of this compact town and its history as you join the 

included excursion to the monastery. You will have free time this 

afternoon to enjoy Goritsy before we set sail for Kizhi. 

Day 6 Kizhi 

Kizhi Island is one of over 1500 islands which pepper Lake Onega. 

Around 80 wooden structures populate the island creating a 

tremendous open-air museum. In the early evening we will take a 

walk around the island to admire the unique architecture and enjoy 

the peaceful atmosphere of the island. The remarkable wooden 

structures are believed to have been crafted by skillful carpenters, 

around the 16th century. 

Day 7 Mandrogi/svirstroy 

Mandrogi is a reconstructed traditional Russian village complete 

with craft workshops, a vodka museum and a Russian bathhouse. In 

this fairytale-like village you will be able to witness craftspeople at 

work, sample the local specialties and buy Russian craft items. 

Later today we will call at Svirstroy – a small village located on the 

Svir River. Villagers sell individually crafted items and artwork from 

traditionally built kiosks. Welcoming residents are known to invite 

visitors into their homes for tea and a keen ear – they will happily 

tell stories of the village’s history. 

Day 8 st PetersbUrg 

St. Petersburg, formerly Leningrad, is widely renowned as one 

of Europe’s most beautiful cities. You will discover more on your 

included tour today as we traverse the streets - pausing to admire 

significant sights and monuments on our way. Be sure to visit the 

Peter and Paul Fortress and the Alexander Nevsky Monastery. 

Day 9 st PetersbUrg 

You will have plenty of time today to make your own discoveries of 

this mesmerizing metropolis. Why not walk around the streets and 

canals, an area widely referred to as ‘Venice of the North’, or visit the 

incredible Yusupov Palace - former home of the Yusupov family and 

murder scene of the infamous Rasputin. An excursion is included 

to the world renowned museum complex, The Hermitage. The 

complex is made up of numerous significant buildings including the 

Winter Palace, the Hermitage Theatre, Menshikov Palace and more. 

Within the museum you will discover paintings, admire sculptures 

and works of applied art, marvel at archaeological finds and a 

fascinating and comprehensive collection of numismatic material.

Uncover the rich, fascinating history of Egypt as you cruise 

along the River Nile from Luxor to Aswan and back. Indulge your 

curiosity as you explore the temples and tombs of this ancient 

land and admire the magnificent pyramids at Giza. 

Day 1 UK/Cairo 

Depart on your flight to Cairo where you will be transferred to 

your hotel for a two-night stay. 

Day 2 Cairo 

Cairo is a fast-paced metropolis overlaid with millennia of 

history. On your included excursion today you will explore the 

medieval city and view the Citadel of Saladin, which dates back 

to 1176 and the alabaster mosque of Mohammed Ali, built in the 

1840s. You will visit the tremendous pyramids at Giza, perhaps 

the most iconic and enduring symbols of the ancient world. 

You will be left contemplating how the Egyptians created these 

magnificent structures in a time when man-power was the 

only means for construction. Be certain to pause for a while to 

admire the symbolic Sphinx of Giza, a truly mesmerizing sight. 

You will also visit the world-famous Egyptian Antiquities 

museum - a treasure trove of Pharaonic sculpture, art, artefacts 

and mummies. Among them you will find the fabled contents of 

the tomb of Tutankhamun, including the gold funerary mask and 

bejewelled throne. 

Day 3 Cairo/LUxor 

Today you will take the flight from Cairo to Luxor where you will 

be transferred to MS Jasmin in time for lunch on-board. This 

afternoon experience the east bank of the River Nile on included 

excursions to The Temple of Karnak and The Temple of Luxor 

before returning to your ship for an overnight stay. 

Day 4 LUxor/Esna 

After breakfast you will have the opportunity to encounter the 

west bank of the River Nile - home to the Valley of the Kings. It is 

here that ancient Egyptians chose to bury their dead and you’ll 

find the final resting places of pharaohs. With your local guide, 

descend into a selection of tombs and explore their complex 

maze of corridors and chambers, the walls adorned with the 

sacred texts and scenes from the Book of the Dead. Back at 

ground level, the Temple of Queen Hatchepsut – the only woman 

to have ruled as pharaoh – is built on a grand scale, and a stop 

simply has to be made at the giant twin statues of the Colossi 

of Memnon. Your encounters today will leave you wondering 

just how the ancient Egyptians had the power and knowledge to 

build on such a scale. Relax aboard your river cruiser through 

the afternoon as you cruise towards Edfu. 

Day 5 EdfU/Kom-ombo 

Uncover the Egypt of the Ptolemies as you explore the imposing 

and extremely well-preserved Temple of Horus at Edfu. Relax 

over a leisurely lunch on-board your cruiser, making sure you 

make your way on deck as you approach Kom Ombo Temple, the 

remarkable structure is set high on a headland at a bend in the 

Nile, epitomising the romance of an Egyptian temple. 

Days 6 & 7 aswan 

The scenery of the Nile changes as your cruise reaches Aswan, 

flat and fertile fields give way to rocky banks and steep desert 

slopes rise from the water’s edge. Enjoy an afternoon cruise on 

day 6 aboard a traditional felucca sailing boat to Elephantine 

Island, the botanical gardens on Kitchener’s Island and the 

Mausoleum of the Aga Khan. 

On the morning of day 7 you will have the opportunity to admire 

the sight of the incredible High Dam and the Unfinished Obelisk 

before taking a boat trip to Philae Island to see the distinctive 

Temple of Isis. 

Day 8 Kom ombo 

Enjoy the morning at leisure, relax and make use of the ship’s 

facilities. After lunch we set sail, returning to Kom Ombo. This 

afternoon your guide will take you to explore Kom Ombo temple, 

unusual in that it is dedicated to two Gods - one side is dedicated 

to Sobek the Crocodile God and the other to Horus the Hawk 

God. The walls of the temple are covered with hieroglyphics and 

carvings, which show that the Egyptians knew about medicine, 

used a 30 day/12 month calendar and produced perfumes. 

Later today you will sail to Edfu to see the 2,000-year old 

Ptolemaic Temple with its incredible frescoes. There is a 

spectacular view across the site from the top of an 118 foot 

high, intricately carved pylon. Rejoining your ship, you will sail 

on to Esna where your ship will berth overnight.

Cambodia is a captivating country. Explore the lively capital of Phnom Penh and 

discover floating villages and majestic temples in the Laos region before setting sail 

for a pioneering adventure along the remarkable Mekong River. 

Days 1 & 2 UK/Phnom PEnh 

Depart on your flight to Phnom Penh, arriving on day 2. You will be transferred to your 

hotel where you will enjoy dinner this evening. 

Day 3 Phnom PEnh 

Discover the captivating and chaotic capital of Cambodia and hear of its turbulent 

history on a full-day tour of the city. Visit the Royal Palace and the Wat Phnom temple 

after which the city is named. Step inside the Silver Pagoda, drive along tree-lined 

boulevards to the waterfront, and linger in the National Museum. After lunch, you have 

the opportunity to gain an insight into Cambodia’s chequered past under the Khmer 

Rouge. There will be the opportunity to visit the Tuol Sleng Museum of Genocide and 

the Killing Fields Memorial. 

Day 4 Phnom PEnh/siEm rEaP 

After breakfast take time to relax before you are transferred to the airport for your 

flight to Siem Reap. On arrival in Siem Reap you will enjoy lunch in a local restaurant 

before your included excursion of the Rolous group of temples in the region of Angkor. 

Later this afternoon you will be transferred to your hotel where you will stay for three 

nights. 

Day 5 siEm rEaP 

Siem Reap is a charming town focused around shady tree-lined boulevards and the 

slow-flowing river. Ancient temples and sacred sights encircle the area. Explore the 

fortified city of Angkor Thom, close to Siem Reap. After arriving via the South Gate, an 

impressive gate carved with elephants and four giant faces, you will visit the Bayon 

Temple, the terrace of the Elephants and the terrace of the Leper King. Be certain to 

experience the splendid Bayon Temple, decorated with intricate Hindu carvings. 

Your tour continues this afternoon as we head to Angkor Wat - the largest and most 

breathtaking of the temples. Linger here in courtyards and wander through shady 

corridors as you soak up the atmosphere of this Khmer masterpiece. A remarkable 

day reaches a breathtaking climax as we board a hot-air balloon to view this mighty 

temple from above. 

Day 6 siEm rEaP 

After breakfast this morning we will journey through paddy fields to temples further 

afield, perhaps the most beautiful is Banteay Srei, translated as Citadel of Women. The 

temple is renowned for the pink sandstone carvings adorning the walls. It is said that 

the reliefs on this temple are so delicate that they could only have been carved by the 

hand of a woman. Our journey continues to Banteay Samre; the temple has distinctive 

Angkor Wat style architecture and artistry. 

This afternoon your guided tour continues by boat on the Tonle Sap Lake. The largest 

freshwater lake in South East Asia, its biodiversity puts the lake on the Ecological 

Wonders of the World list. Floating villages populate the surface - you will visit these 

and one of the floating houses. Later, you will have time to explore the local market in 

Siem Reap at leisure. 

Day 7 siEm rEaP/LUang Prabang 

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast before you are transferred to the airport for a short flight 

to Luang Prabang. On arrival, you will be transferred to MS Mekong Sun to begin your 

cruise on the Mekong. This evening perhaps take the option of a guided walk around 

Luang Prabang including a visit to the night-market. 

Day 8 LUang Prabang/mEKong 

After breakfast on-board this morning join your included tour of Luang Prabang. The 

Alms Giving Ceremony is a daily occurrence and one which has been in place since 

the 14th century when Buddhism was established in Laos. In the ceremony Buddhist 

monks line up to receive alms, rice and other food offerings, from the people of the 

town. You will have the opportunity to witness this daily ritual before we embark on 

a walking tour of the city. Take the opportunity to get further under the skin of this 

fascinating city with visits to Wat Xieng Thong temple, Wat Khili and the Wat Sene 

temple before sailing north along the Mekong River. 

Day 9 mEKong 

The famous Pak Ou Caves are often referred to as the Buddha caves; due to the some 

4,000 images of Buddha that have been placed in the caves over their 2,000-year 

history. You will visit the caves and have time to explore this magical location. Perhaps 

join the optional short walk though the jungle to a traditional Laotian village where it 

may be possible to observe the production of the local Lao-Lao liqueur. On return to 

your ship it may be possible to observe elephants. This afternoon relax and admire the 

passing landscape as we cruise along the Mekong River. 

Day 10 mEKong 

This morning we cruise south along the river towards the ferry crossing at Tha Deua. 

As we travel along this still untamed river the landscape becomes more and more 

spectacular. Admire hills decked with tropical vegetation, tremendous rock formations 

and the changing river currents bringing an expedition like aspect to your journey. 

This afternoon you will visit a local school offering you the opportunity to better 

understand the day-to-day life of this fascinating country. 

Enjoy the late afternoon at leisure as you cruise back to our mooring for the night past 

beautiful landscapes and interesting wildlife.

Continue cruising this morning and absorb yourself in the tranquility of the early 

morning, while looking out for local fishermen. In the late morning you will disembark

Marco Polo said of the River Yangtze that its width is such that it is more like a sea 

than a river. This is true of the Yangtze in the central plains, yet further upstream 

it has cut its way through some of the world’s most spectacular gorges. Absorb 

yourself in all that this river has to offer, explore some of the towns and cities that 

nestle on its banks and uncover the many layers of China’s diverse history. 

Days 1 & 2 UK/shanghai 

Depart London Heathrow on your scheduled flight to Shanghai via Beijing. Arrive in 

Shanghai on day 2 and transfer to your hotel for a two-night stay. 

Day 3 shanghai 

Shanghai is a remarkable city with a colourful history which is embedded in the late 

19th and early 20th centuries. Today you will take a tour of Shanghai. You will visit 

to the thronging shopping thoroughfare of Nanjing Road, the traditional Old Town 

with its ancient Wu Xing Ting Teahouse, and the Classic Chinese Yu Yuan Gardens. 

The Jade Buddha Temple is a truly beautiful sight, you will also have the opportunity 

to spend time absorbing the atmosphere of this delightful temple. Perhaps take the 

opportunity to join the optional excursion to see the spectacular Shanghai Acrobats. 

Day 4 YangtzE rivEr 

This morning enjoy time to explore the delights of Shanghai in your own time. In the 

afternoon you will embark Victoria Sophia and sail from Shanghai. 

Day 5 YangtzE rivEr/nanJing 

Nanjing has been the national capital several times during the history of China. It is 

a charming city characterized by tree-lined boulevards, lively markets and ancient 

fortifications. We also visit Sun Yat Sen Mausoleum with its remarkable stairway 

and a Qing Dynasty style bazaar surrounding a Confucian Temple. 

Day 6 YangtzE rivEr/hUangshan Relax on board and appreciate the passing 

scenery as we sail to Wuhan where we will dock for the night. You will enjoy a full 

day excursion to Huangshan, one of China’s most famous mountain ranges and 

more commonly known as Yellow Mountain. Almost 80 imposing granite peaks 

integrate monstrous shaped rock-formations with crystal clear pools, bubbling 

waterfalls and seas of clouds creating truly majestic ambience. It is no wonder that 

it features in many Chinese paintings, literature and modern photography. 

Day 7 YangtzE rivEr/wUhan 

Wuhan, the capital of the Hubei Province, is our destination today. Situated in the 

heart of China, an industrial veneer hides a rewarding mix of ancient history and 

cultural arts. There are many scenic spots and historical sites in and around Wuhan 

including the Yellow Crane Tower built 1,700 years ago. We pay a visit to the Hubei 

Provincial Museum where we observe a huge amount of artefacts excavated from 

throughout Province. Relics on show include the sword of King Goujian which is 

remarkably untarnished and surprisingly sharp, and a set of bronze bells. The bells, 

part of the Marquis Yi of Zeng Tomb excavation in 1978, have an amazing quality of 

sound despite being made in 433BC. 

Day 8 YangtzE rivEr 

Relax at sea today. Enjoy the passing scenery and enjoy the facilities on board your 

ship as we sail along the Yangtze river. 

Day 9 YangtzE rivEr/thrEE gorgEs 

Today we sail through the Gezhou Dam near Yichang with an afternoon visit to the 

impressive Three Gorges Dam site - one of the world’s most incredible feats of 

engineering. Wind through Xiling Gorge, the longest of all three gorges, and take in 

some of magnificent natural scenery and historical sites including the Huangling 

Temple. 

Day 10 YangtzE rivEr/thrEE gorgEs 

Continue through the Gorges - nature’s most extraordinary sculptures. Wu Gorge is 

known for its quiet beauty and forest covered mountains while Qutang Gorge is the 

shortest and most dramatic. Take an excursion through the emerald green waters 

and beautiful peaks of the Daning River Lesser Three Gorges. 

Day 11 YangtzE rivEr/fEngdU 

The graceful town of Fengdu lies on the north bank of the Yangtze River and is 

home to temples and shrines dedicated to gods of the underworld. The ‘Ghost 

City’ displays remarkable architecture and provides a visual taste of the Chinese 

ghost culture. Make sure you look out for ‘Nothing-to-be-done Bridge’, ‘Ghost 

Torturing Pass’ and ‘Last Glance Home Tower’, where ghosts are said to leave the 

mortal world. 

Day 12 Chongqing/ bEiJing 

This morning we arrive in Chongqing an absorbing city which is alive with bustling 

water traffic, fascinating street life and lively markets. Enjoy time to explore this 

fascinating city at your own pace. Enjoy a guided tour of the old town and the 

famous zoo where you will have the opportunity to admire the handsome giant 

panda. This afternoon you will fly to Beijing. On arrival you will transfer to your hotel 

for a three-night stay. The rest of the day is free. 

Day 13 bEiJing 

Today we get to know Beijing on an introductory tour of the city. We head to the 

heart of Beijing - Tiananmen Square. It is the largest public square in the world 

bordered by the Qianmen Gate, the Great Hall of People and the Gate of Heavenly 

Peace. After lunch in a local restaurant we enter through the gate, which forms 

the entrance to the Forbidden City, to take the chance to marvel at the magnificent 

buildings that house the Imperial Palace. We will also visit the beautiful Summer 

Palace, once a summer resort for emperors and empresses.

on a waiting list for or have knowledge of the 

need for surgery, treatment or investigation at a 

hospital, clinic or nursing home. 

b) At any time: 

i) Any medical condition you have in respect of 

which a medical practitioner has advised not to 

travel (or would have done so had you sought his/ 

her advice), but despite which you still travel. 

ii) Any surgery, treatment or investigations for 

which you intend to travel outside of your home 

area to receive (including expenses incurred 

due to the discovery of other medical conditions 

during and/or complications arising from these 

procedures). 

iii) Any medical condition for which you are not 

taking the recommended treatment or prescribed 

medication as directed by a medical practitioner. 

iv) Your travel against any health requirements 

stipulated by the carrier, their handling agents or 

any other public transport provider. 

imPortant Limitations 

You must be a UK resident, and aged under 86 at 

the time of taking out this policy. 

You will not be covered for any Cancellation, 

Curtailment or Trip Interruption claims for 

any medical condition affecting you, a Close 

Relative or a travelling companion that you are 

aware of at the time of booking any trip which 

could reasonably have been expected to lead to 

cancellation or curtailment of the trip. 

This policy will not cover any Cancellation, 

Curtailment or Trip Interruption claims arising 

directly or indirectly from any pre-existing 

medical condition known to you before the start of 

the period of insurance affecting a close relative 

or travelling companion who is not insured under 

this policy, or a person with whom you intend to 

stay whilst on your trip if: 

• They had received a terminal prognosis at the 

start of the period of insurance, or 

• They were on a waiting list for, or knew 

they needed surgery, inpatient treatment or 

investigation at any hospital or clinic at the start 

of the period of insurance, or 

• They were aware of a medical condition or 

suffering from symptoms but had not had a 

diagnosis at the start of the period of insurance, 

or 

• They have had surgery, inpatient treatment or 

hospital consultations in the 90 days before the 

start of the period of insurance. 

In accordance with the ‘General Business Code of Practice’ we are pleased to show below

how do i book? 

For more information and to book, please

do i need travel insurance? 

Yes, suitable and adequate travel 

insurance is essential. Page & Moy offers 

comprehensive cover and you will find 

details in this brochure/the accompanying 

literature. When arranging your insurance 

cover, you must give the insurers full details 

of any current, on-going or past (as required 

by the policy wording) medical condition or 

problem you or any member of your party or 

other person as detailed in the policy (such 

as a close relative or business partner) has 

or has had (for example diabetes, heart 

problems or high blood pressure). If you fail 

to do so, your insurers may refuse to cover 

you at all even if you need to claim for some 

other reason. 

delay protection plan: If flights are 

cancelled or delayed, we’ll do our best to 

make sure that you’re well looked after. 

In most cases, the airline you’re travelling 

with will provide meals and hotel 

accommodation. We’ll work closely with the 

airlines to make sure that they meet their 

obligations to you. 

But if the airline won’t provide this, it’s 

our policy to look after you. Subject 

to availability, we’ll provide you with 

accommodation on a half board basis for 

a period of up to 7 days beyond the date of 

the affected flight. All other expenses (eg 

laundry, telephone calls, drinks, optional 

excursions) must be paid for yourself. 

If you’re delayed overseas, it’s our 

responsibility to return you to your final 

contracted destination. This responsibility 

is limited to flying you with the same airline 

in the original class of travel. We won’t be 

responsible for meeting the cost of any other 

arrangements unless we agree to these in 

advance. 

Your holiday insurance policy may provide 

cover in these circumstances. If they do, we 

reserve the right to require you to assign 

any rights you have under the terms of your 

policy so that we may recover any costs that 

we’ve incurred on your behalf. 

In addition, our insurance policy includes 

special delayed departure benefit if there 

is a long delay on your outward flight. The 

benefit will be £20 for the first eight hours 

and £20 for each full 12 hours thereafter to 

maximum £100 OR reimbursement of the 

total holiday cost up to £5000 if the insured 

should decide to abandon the holiday after 24 

hours a delay and you have not left the UK. 

There is no extra premium for this cover. It 

is included in the insurance cover described 

on page 57. 

Customers with special needs 

The Disability Discrimination Act 1995 

states: 

“The Act makes it unlawful for a service 

provider to discriminate against a disabled 

person by refusing to provide any service 

which it provides to members of the public.” 

This law applies to services provided in 

the UK and not those provided overseas. 

However, we believe in trying to make our 

holidays as accessible to as many people 

as possible. If you tell us before you book of 

any special needs or medical conditions you 

have, we will do all we can to accommodate 

you. This includes making any reasonable 

adjustments to the holiday itself. If your 

or any member of your party’s situation 

changes after you have booked you must let 

us know straight away. 

Examples of reasonable adjustments we 

might make include (but are not limited to): 

• Providing relevant sections of our 

brochures in large print 

• Making specific seating arrangements 

on our coaches for those with specific 

mobility difficulties 

• Providing individual transport for 

someone with mobility difficulties where a 

coach cannot reach a hotel 

Whilst we will endeavour to make any 

reasonable adjustments to the holiday 

itself, sometimes this may not be possible. 

Examples where we might not be able to 

make a reasonable adjustment include: 

• Providing wheelchair access ramps to 

overseas hotels in remote locations 

• Our staff pushing a customer in a 

wheelchair throughout the duration of the 

holiday 

It is your responsibility to tell us before you 

book whether you have any special needs 

or medical conditions, which might affect 

your ability to take part on our holidays. A 

reasonable level of fitness is required for our 

holidays as some walking can be involved. 

If you are in any doubt about the suitability 

of any of our holidays please just ask. 

Where we can we will make any reasonable 

adjustments - where we cannot make such 

adjustments we may have to refuse your 

booking. 

It is our intention to try and make our 

holidays as accessible to as many people 

as we can, especially those with disabilities. 

We cannot do this if you don’t tell us of 

your needs so please mention any relevant 

information to us before you book. We will 

assume, unless you tell us otherwise, that all 

members of the party are in a good state of 

health to participate in the holiday. 

If you do not tell us about any special needs 

or medical conditions, and we find ourselves 

in the position where you are at your UK 

departure point or on holiday and unable to

Information regarding passport, visa and 

health requirements applicable to British 

Citizens for the holidays we offer are shown 

in our brochure. Requirements may change 

and you must check the up-to-date position 

in good time before departure. 

It is your responsibility to ensure you 

are in possession of all necessary travel 

and health documents before departure.

All costs incurred in obtaining such 

documentation must be paid by you. We 

regret we cannot accept liability if you are 

refused entry on to any transport or into 

any country due to failure on your part to 

carry correct documentation. If you or any 

member of your party is not a British Citizen 

or holds a non-British passport, you must 

check passport and visa requirements 

with the Embassy or Consulate of the 

country(ies) to or through which you are 

intending to travel. If failure to have any 

necessary travel or other documents results 

in fines, surcharges or other financial 

penalty being imposed on us, you will be 

responsible for reimbursing us accordingly. 

Information on health is contained in the 

Department of Health leaflet T6 (Health 

Advice for Travellers) available from your 

local Department of Health office and most 

Post Offices. For holidays in the EEA you 

should obtain an EHIC (European Health 

Insurance Card) prior to departure. NB this

Please note – Entry requirements for British 

Citizens may differ to those for British 

Subjects, British Dependant Territories 

Citizens, British Nationals (Overseas 

Citizens), British Protected Persons or 

any other British passports. Please check 

your passport carefully and if you are not

Embassy or Consulate of the country(ies)

Visa requirements 

British citizens who hold a British Citizen 

passport need a visa to visit the countries 

we’ve listed below. In most cases, we’re able 

to arrange this for you. We’ll add the cost of 

the visa, plus a small handling fee, to your 

confirmation/invoice. If you hold any other 

type of passport, it’s your responsibility to 

check passport and visa requirements with 

the embassy of the country you’re visiting. 

We’re unable to accept any responsibility if 

you can’t travel because you’re not granted 

a visa. 

Where it is necessary for you to send us your 

passport, we will normally need this about 

eight weeks before you go away. Expect to 

be without your passport for up to a fortnight 

before you travel. If you need your passport 

during this time please contact us for advice. 

Extra charges may apply for early or late

We will obtain an Egyptian visa for you. 

We will add the visa charge to your

risk can vary considerably around the

certain inoculations and preventative 

measures such as malaria protection may 

need to be taken well in advance of your

If your journey takes you across the English/ 

Scottish border, there is a supplement

aT yoUr desTinaTion 

When your ship is moored there will be 

times when it will be necessary for you to 

walk across other vessels to get ashore. This 

is a usual practice and involves the use of 

secure walkways, as other ships will moor 

alongside, but if you have any concerns, 

please speak to your Cruise Representative. 

Like all ships, river cruisers are subject to a 

degree of engine noise and vibration. This is 

most noticeable when the ship is moving or 

manoeuvring.

for The environmenT 

Concern for the environment has become a major 

issue particularly the impact of how we live our 

lives on the world around us. Every time we switch 

on the heating or travel somewhere we are adding 

CO2 to the atmosphere and many people are now 

realising that they can do something to reduce 

their impact on a very personal level. As a result, 

and in response to suggestions from many of our 

customers, we have been looking at ways in which 

we can all help. 

redUcing oUr impacT 

To reduce greenhouse gas emissions like CO2 and 

prevent further damage to our environment it is 

possible to ‘offset’ the effects of travel particularly 

when we fly. Carbon Offsetting means donating 

money to projects specifically set up with the aim 

of reducing the level of CO2 in the atmosphere 

thus making your travel ‘carbon neutral’. Typical 

projects include: 

Reforestation – absorbs CO2 from the atmosphere 

as the trees grow 

Renewable energy sources – replaces non 

renewable fuel such as coal and oil 

Energy efficiency – reduces the amount of fuel 

needed. 

To demonstrate our commitment, we pledge to 

offset the carbon emissions of flights for our staff 

when researching and planning 

our holidays. 

Furthermore as a responsible company we have 

taken steps to minimise our pollution and energy 

loss and conserve natural resources wherever 

possible. We recycle as much as possible (paper, 

cans and many other items), use the latest 

technology to ensure that we are energy efficient 

and encourage staff to minimise electricity and 

other fuel consumption wherever possible. 

We are also pleased to work in partnership 

with print and paper companies who have 

clear environmental policies in place. Our key 

suppliers either hold, or are working towards, ISO 

14001 accreditation, an international standard 

for controlling and improving environmental 

performance. Furthermore our paper supplier is 

committed to sourcing materials that originate 

from well-managed forests with credible and 

audited certification standards. 

If you would like to offset your CO2 emissions we 

suggest using our preferred partner Climate Care. 

To calculate the impact of your holiday, use the 

calculator on their website www.climatecare.org. 

Your payment, which is of course entirely voluntary, 

may be much less than you think. For example, for 

one person’s return flight to Europe the cost would 

be around £5, for North America between £13 and 

£25 and for other long haul destinations between 

£8 and £49.
