Meet the 2012 Judges
Division 1 - Borders - Mr. Cyril Hackett
I commenced breeding Border Canaries in
1955. I joined the Irish Border Canary Club as a
novice breeder in 1956. I have exhibited at this
show every year since with great success. I have
exhibited at the British all Border Show and was
chosen as a member of the International Team. I
had the sixth best Border at the British All Border
Show out of 2240 birds with a dark unflighted
yellow cock.
I keep a small stud of Border Canaries in a
outdoor timber shed size 12' x 8'. I also keep six
to eight pairs and breed between 24 and 48 young birds per season.
Division 2 - Glosters - Mr. Winfield Checkley
I have been raising Canaries and Finches for
well over forty years with a rigid commitment to
breeding and exhibiting Gloster Canaries since
1980. I was fortunate to be successful as the 1990
Scannell Trophy winner at the NCBS show in
Atlanta, GA. I have been a passionate promoter of
Gloster exhibiting as this is the most challenging
task among all of the Type Canaries. The
Exhibition Gloster is a Work of Art which requires
patience, vision and a rigid adherence to a dual
set of genetic principles. One's strife, to attain and
remain on the top bench, challenges the artistic quest and the concerted
devotion of the person who desires such success.
I wish to pay my unconditional respect to the past Gloster Breeders
who had that vision to challenge our creativity and I convey my best
wishes to our current exhibitors as they strive to maintain their focus on
improving the most challenging of the Type Canaries.
Let's continue to improve Our Best!
-30-

Division 3 - Type - Mr. Patrick Varian
I have been breeding Canaries for about 45
years. Originally from County Cork Ireland, where I
developed my love for Canaries and Finches.
I am a charter member of the N.G.C. and North
American Border Club. This will be my third time
judging the National Cage Bird Show. Previously, I
have judged Atlanta and Denver.
I currently breed Borders, Norwich, Fife and Irish
Fancy and Lizard Canaries.
Being retired, I am still interested in breeding,
showing and judging. I am always honored to be
asked to judge and to have the opportunity to place the awards.
Looking forward to meeting all of you and to see my old friends at the
show.
Division 4 - Old Varieties - Mr. Jim A. Pickel
I have been raising birds most of my life. As a
child in Kansas, I raised pigeons, pheasants, quail,
and other assorted fowl. For the past 28 years, I
have been raising and showing Type Canaries,
Colourbred Canaries and Finches. Aside from
numerous Best in Show awards for both Type
Canaries and Finches, I have also won Kellogg
awards in both 1988: Best Gloster and 1989: Best
Type with a Fife Canary. I have been judging for
26 years including four U.S. National Cage Bird
Shows and several Canadian Shows, as well as the 2000 Canadian
Nationals held in Windsor. I have been an officer of numerous bird
clubs, President of the Midwest Pheasant and Waterfowl Society, a past
President of the American Chapter of the IGBA and am currently the
President of the Old Variety Canary Association. I have also served on
the U.S. National Cage Bird Club's Board of Directors. I am presently
raising Scott Fancy, Southern Frills, Northern Dutch Frills, Lizards and a
few Color Bred canaries.
-31-

Division 5 - Hartz - Mr. Jim Warren
I have been raising Canaries since 1981. In 1982
we had a fire and I lost
all of my birds. Ray Havens gave me a pair of his
Red Factors so I could get back into raising birds.
I have raised Colorbred, a variety of Type Canaries
and Old Variety Canaries since then. I have also
raised Finches and Budgies.
I attended my first National Cage Bird Show in
Oklahoma City and I was hooked after that. I have
made many new friends and look forward to seeing
them each year at the NCBS show, along with
making new friends.
I am honored to be selected by the membership to be considered as a
judge at the National Cage Bird Show. I hope everyone has a great time
at the show this year. Good luck to all exhibitors.
Division 6 - Fife Fancy Canary - Mr. Jeremy Faria
Jeremy's interest in birds began early as a
young boy helping his uncle with his Budgies but
it didn't continue until much later in life. In 1988
his daughter received a Border Canary as a pet
from her grandparents and Jeremy quickly
decided to get a mate for him and that led to a
great interest in Canaries. He has bred,
exhibited and judged many Type Canaries like;
Gloster, Norwich, Crest Bred Canaries as well as
Gouldian Finches, however Jeremy has a special
interest in Borders and Fife Canaries. Over the
years he has exhibited in many of the Ontario
shows as well as the Canadian National and the
American National Cage Bird Show.
One of the things in this hobby that Jeremy enjoys doing is the
organization of shows and he has been show manager for BFBS shows
for many years. Jeremy also has designed a computerized registration
program for Bird Shows. Over the years he has done registration for
many shows in Ontario to the National in Montreal, QC and Victoria, BC,
all for the benefit of the exhibitors.
He has judged Type Canaries in Ontario, Montreal and Vancouver, and
was pleased to be one of the judges at one of the largest Fife Canary
show in England in 2010, the Midland Fife show which had 1900 entries
and he is looking forward to judging the American National in St Louis.
Jeremy sends his best wishes to all exhibitors.
-32-

Division 7 - Staffords - Ms. Bonnie Williams-Cain
Grove City, Ohio, is home to Bonnie Williams
Cain. She is well known by bird fanciers and
exhibitors across the United States and Canada.
Proficient at both Type and Colorbred Canary
judging, she is active judging on the show circuit.
As a Canary breeder and exhibitor she has
raised most Type Canaries and Colorbreds
representing Lipochrome, Classic Melanin and
New Color melanin. She has also enjoyed raising
and exhibiting a variety of Finches and small Psittacines.
Her club affiliations include the National Cage Bird Show. Having
served as a Director many years she held various positions such as
Treasurer and President and is now an Honorary Director for the
National Cage Bird Show. As a charter member of the National
Colorbred Association she has served in various capacities including
President. She is a member of the Stafford Canary Club and a certified
Stafford judge. She also supports the Hartz Club and the International
Columbus Fancy Association.
Division 8 - Lipochrome Colorbred - Mr. Sjaak DeJong
For most of my life in native Holland, I have been
breeding, caring, and judging Colorbred Canaries.
I have learned all this from my grandfather, a wellknown,
famous bird breeder.
I am a member of the Dutch Judging Panel, an
organization of 45,000 members. In nearly thirty
years I have judged about 15 shows each year all
over the world and the National Cage Bird show in
New Hampshire and Chicago.
At the moment I am breeding with my son
Maurice with about a hundred pair Lipochrome
Red , Lipochrome Red and Yellow Mosaics,
Melanin Red Black, Brown, Classic , Blue and Redblack, Blackyellow,
Blackwhite, and Cobalt.
I am looking forward to judge together with my friend Fritz Heiler from
Germany and Gerardo Cherta in the other Colorbred Divisions. I am
looking forward to meeting all my friends from the USA and Canada.
-33-

Division 9 - Melanin Classic - Mr. Fritz Heiler
Hi, my name is Fritz Heiler and I'm 49 years right
now. I'm married and have two daughters, who are
21 and 17 years.
Breeding Canaries I began at the age of twelve.
Since 1987 I've been breeding and judging Color
and Type Canaries, as well as Finches. To earn my
salary, I run a shop where I sell birds, food and
other bird supplies. During my work experience I've
nearly bred all different Colors of Canaries.
Currently, I raise to Blacks, Opals, Greywings,
Eumos, Topaz, Cobalt and Siberian Gold Finches.
In the past I had a lot of success with my animals. My favorite
expositions are Mechelen in Belgium and moreover Reggio Emilia in
Italy.
Division 10 - Melanin New Color - Mr. Gerry Cherta
Need
Photo
Gerry Cherta, 60 years old. Wife Teri and son
Javier. I have been raising Canaries for over 42
years and judging since 1977.
I have Judged the National Cage Bird Chow
many times over my judging career as well as
other shows in the United States, Canada,
Holland, Belgium and France.
I use the C.O.M. standard because it is
updated frequently and accepted all over the
world. I look forward to educating the NCBS
members.
Best wishes to all.
-34-

Division 11 - Finches & Softbills - Mr. Clarence Cullwell
I have been raising birds since about 1950. I
started with American parakeets, which I bred for
several years. A pair of Zebra finches were added
which really caught my interest and has been a
priority ever since.. I have had Cockatiels, Love
Birds, Senegals, Conures, Parrotlets, and
Cockatoos.
I started showing my birds and enjoyed the
competition and friendships that I made. Some of
my dearest friends are friends that I have made in
the bird world. I started judging birds from the
encouragement I received from many people. I
am a Panel Judge for NFSS, NCS, and NAPS. I have judged many
shows, including the National Cage Bird Show.
I am a NCBS Director and currently serving the membership as their
Treasurer.
Division 12 - Parrots - Ms. Annette Howard
Annette's introduction to aviculture began almost thirty years
ago with the purchase of a cockatiel named Dicky. Her love of
this bird lead her on to obtain numerous Parrots, Cockatiels and
Finches, opening an aviary in her hometown of Salem, Ohio.
She has been featured in numerous newspaper, magazine, and
journal articles locally and in specialty journals. Annette is now
retired from working at the local school board as the Assistant
Director of Business and Finance in the Treasurer's Office. She
now concentrates on her hobbies and raising her son Timmy.
Annette considers it a great honor that she is now on the
judges panel for the American Cockatiel Society. Annette has
held countless positions within NAPS, NFSS, NCS and SPBE.
She has stewarded and secretaried at numerous Nationals
since attending her first National Cage Bird show in the late
1980's.
Annette is an international judge of Parrots, Cockatiels, and Finches attending several
shows to judge in Puerto Rico and Canada as well as judging and exhibiting in countless
shows across the United States.
Along with seeing old and making new friends at the National each year, Annette's
fondest memories include winning the 2004 Higgins trophy for Parrots at the Lansing
National with her Barnard Parrot. She has been deeply honored to judge the National three
previous times; the first NAPS National in 1999 held in Buffalo, New York picking the
ultimate Barraband Parakeet for the Kellogg, AFA Award, and the Scannell, judging the
Finch Division in 2006 held in Chicago, Illinois, and once again picking an ultimate Lutino
Cockatiel this past season in Tulsa, Oklahoma that went on to win the Charles Anchor
Foreign Bird Award.
Annette appreciates the honor of being considered for judging NCBS and will do her best
to represent and continue growth of the bird fancy in all areas.
-35-

Division 13 - Rare / Eyering Lovebirds - Mr. Frank Horan
I grew up in a suburb of Dublin, Ireland and
moved to Brooklyn, New York in 1980. I have kept
many different types of birds and one of my
earliest recollections is having a pet Bantam
Rooster when I was about 3 or 4 years old. .
Many birds have attracted me since I emigrated
to the U.S., but Lovebirds, so far, are the species
for me. They have kept my attention and I believe
will keep it. I attended my first Lovebird show in
2001 and have been an active exhibitor since
then. I have been a top 10 exhibitor in ALBS for
the past few years, making it to number three for 2006, in the future I
would like to achieve Champion Breeder status. I was fortunate enough
to win a Higgins in 2008 for a Peachfaced. In the future I would like to
win the Anchor and Scannel awards, perhaps a pipe dream….
I am a Lieutenant/Paramedic in FDNY EMS. I live, with my wife and
daughter, in Staten Island, N.Y., without whom I would not be able to
judge and exhibit my birds.
Division 14 - Peachfaced Lovebirds - Mr. Mike Miller
I was intrigued by birds from the time I was a
child. Many youthful hours were spent watching
the colorful budgies in the local “dime stores” and
trying to capture the wild birds at home just for
the pleasure of holding them. In the coming
years, many species would come and go in my
aviaries, from Doves to Rheas and from Finches
to Macaws and wonderful softbills such as
Hornbills and Bali Mynahs. In the 1970's, I
discovered the colorful little avian gems known as
Love Birds that were starting to mutate. Shortly
after I joined the African Love Bird Society of which I am honored to be
serving as Chairman. These little guys continue to excite me to this day.
I have bred most of the Peachfaced mutations and presently have
focused on breeding several mutations of the Fischer's Love Birds. I
have formerly kept the Masked, Black-Cheeked and Abyssinian species
as well. Also, I breed quite a few rare Indian Ringneck mutations and
have expanded into the Magna Double Yellow Headed Amazons. In
1990, I became a Love Bird judge and am a former Love Bird Division
NCBS winner. It is an honor to judge the National here in St. Louis and I
thank everyone for your support and the NCBS for having this wonderful
exhibition.
-36-

Division 15 - Cockatiels - Ms. Julia Allen
Julia Allen has been breeding and showing
Cockatiels for 31 years, as well as being an NCS
judge for the last ten years. She has attended
NCBS each year from 1993 until 2006 when she
won the Higgins for Best Cockatiel. Due to her
husband's illness and passing, this will be her
first NCBS since. Her passion remains centered
on creating, exhibiting and judging beautiful
Cockatiels always striving for the one most
closest to the NCS Standard Cockatiel. What
better opportunity to see the Cockatiels that most
meet the standard as depicted in the National
Cockatiel Society's written and pictured standard as to judge
Cockatiels at the 2012 National Cage Bird Show in St. Louis!
Division 16 - American Singers - Mr. Steve Baptiste
Steve Baptiste has always been fascinated with
songbirds. He began keeping and trapping birds in
his native Trinidad at the age of 8. He migrated to
the United States in 1974 and resided in New York
City. He immediately started breeding canaries
after purchasing some from the local pet shop. In
1979, he met the late respected A.S. Judge, Dan
Feduk. He then eliminated all of his other canaries
and purchased his original stock birds from Dan. He
has been committed to the American Singers from
that time to the present. In 1992, he moved to Punta
Gorda, Florida.
Mr. Baptiste has two dedicated bird rooms at home. He loves both
songbirds and he’s just in too deep at this point and he knows he ain’t
never going to get out! He has traveled to Belgium to study the song of
the Waterslager and it is his goal to become a World Certified OMJ judge
for the Waterslager. He became an American Singer judge in 1999. He is
the proud recipient of three Nationals Awards. He won a Kellog in San
Juan, Puerto Rico at the 52nd national for Best Waterslager. He then won
a Higgins for Best Waterslager at the 54th Nationals in Santa Clara,
California. Steve won his third Nationals, a Higgins for Best American
Singer in Lansing, Michigan in 2004. He also won the highly coveted best
songbird award at the 54th Nationals in Santa Clara, California. On the
home front, he has been married to his wife Nancy and has four
wonderful children, Stephanie, Adam, Manny, and Brandon. Mr. Baptiste
would like to thank the Board of Directors of the NCBS for their
confidence in selecting him to judge the show. It is indeed a prestigious
honor to judge the NCBS.
-37-

Division 17 - Rollers - Mr. David Bopp
David Bopp started raising German Roller
canaries when he was just sixteen years of age,
continuing a family tradition started by his
grandfather and passed along to his father, who
was also a Master Breeder in the fancy.
He received his judging certification in 1988 and
has since judged Roller competitions throughout
the United States and Canada.
David likes to include teaching seminars to help
breeders recognize the various Roller Tours and
Division 18 - Spanish Timbrados - Mr. Alberto Berrios
Although I have kept birds for most of my life, I
have exclusively focused on the Spanish
Timbrados now for more than twenty years.
Along the way, I have imported Spanish
Timbrados directly from World Champions'
breeding stock in Spain numerous times.
Currently, I am the President of the Spanish
Timbrado Society of America and Secretary of
C.O.M. Puerto Rico.
I was instrumental in bringing the first Timbrado
demonstration to NCBS in 1993 at Houston. I
have been recognized and have many achievements both in the U.S.A
and in Spain.
I have attended Timbrado shows in Spain, Italy, Germany, Columbia, the
U.S. and Puerto Rico.
Why Feed PrimaLac to Caged Birds ?
PrimaLac is a probiotic also referred to as a Direct Fed Microbial (DFM).
DFM's are defined as microorganisms that contribute to intestinal microbial
balance. (R.Fuller, Probiotics in man and animals, 1989).
Dr. Mercola states in “Total Health” that eighty percent of the human
immune system is located in our digestive system. Dr. Mercola further states
that there are 100 trillion bacteria, weighing three pounds lining the human
intestinal tract to protect our body from invasions. Maintaining a balance of
more good bacteria than bad bacteria is the goal.
Caged bird fanciers can do the same for their birds.
PrimaLac DFM contains Lactobacillus acidophilus, L. casei, Enterococcus
faecium, and Bifidobacterium thermophilum. All of these organisms are good
bacteria like those found in yogurt. Add the good bacteria to fight the bad
bacteria. By establishing the proper micro-flora, essential bacteria acidify the
intestinal environment. They also aid in the breakdown and fermentation of
feed, and absorption of nutrients.
How do DFM's work in the intestinal tract? They inhibit pathogen growth in
the GI tract by attaching to the gut wall and crowding out the bad bacteria
(competitive exclusion). DFM's increase mucosal villus heights, increase
digestive enzyme activity, and they increase antibody formation. The villi form
a brush border of the gut lining where particles of digested feed and water are
absorbed into the body. Good and bad bacteria compete for space to live on the
brush border villi. Good bacteria prevent the attachment of pathogenic (bad)
bacteria to the the brush border membrane and destruction of the villi. Again,
fight the bad bacteria with the good bacteria. By controlling the pathogens,
such as E. coli, salmonella, and clostridia, gut health is improved. Improved gut
health promotes improvement in nutritional absorption and decreased nutrient
excretion.
Not all DFM's are the same. When choosing the correct DFM, pick the one
that can insure stability of the organisms, especially in extreme temperatures or
extreme environmental conditions. The DFM should have been tested by a
university or qualified researcher to document its effectiveness. PrimaLac has
been tested by different universities in the U.S. and other qualified researchers.
DIVISION 1 - BORDER FANCY CANARIES
The North American Border Club Standard of Excellence
The grand essentials of the Border Fancy
Canary are type and quality. Without these
all other aspects are useless. The general
appearance is that of a clean cut, lightly
made compact, proportional, close
feathered Canary showing no tendency to
heaviness, roughness, or dullness, but
giving the impression of fine quality and
symmetry throughout.
HEAD & NECK 10 points.
Head wellrounded
and neat when viewed from any
angle, beak fine, eyes clear and positioned
to rest on an imaginary line as an extension
to the line between the upper and lower
mandible of the beak, very slightly
forward of the central point of the head.
Neck rather fine, in keeping with the head
and flowing smoothly into the body lines
and of a sufficient length to give a free,
jaunty look to the heard carriage.
BODY 15 points.
Well filled and nicely rounded running in a smooth
downward curve from the gently, smooth rise of the shoulders to the point of
the tail. The chest is also nicely rounded, but not heavy. The line of the curve to
the root of the tail always being downward. Viewed from above and behind the
body outline should be symmetrically pear shaped.
WINGS 10 points.
Compact and carried close to the body, covering the back
with primary and secondary flight feathers meeting at the tips. Out flight tips to
meet at the root of the tail. Primaries and secondaries to be pointed.
LEGS & FEET 5 points.
Legs of medium length and showing a little thigh.
The legs should be fine yet in harmony with the size of the bird and allowing it
to adopt a gay, jaunty stance. Feet in keeping with the legs, both to be clean and
without blemish.
PLUMAGE 10 points.
Close, firm and fine quality, presenting a smooth,
silken, glossy appearance, free from browiness, frill or roughness.
TAIL 5 points. Close packed and narrow, being nicely rounded and well
filled in at the root.
POSITION & CARRIAGE 15 points.
Semi-erect standing at an angle of
about 60 degrees. Gay and jaunty with a full poise of the head.
COLOR 15 points.
Rich, soft and pure, as level in tint as possible throughout
but extreme depth and hardness such as color feeding gives, are debarred. Any
exhibit being color fed will be disqualified.
SIZE 5 points.
The ideal length from the top of the head to the tip of the tail
is approximately five and three quarters (5-3/4) inches, length should be in
proportion and balance with other features of the bird.
HEALTH 10 points.
Condition and cleanliness shall have due weight.
DIVISION 4 – OLD VARIETIES (cont’d)
OLD CRESTED AND CREST BRED VARIETIES
STANDARD
The standard of perception for the breed, as laid down by the Crested
Canary Club, is as follows: Size and formation of crest shall be the first
consideration. A crest cannot be too large. It should consist of an
abundance of broad, long and veiny feathers evenly radiated from a small
center well over eyes, beak and poll. A good crest may be flat if well filled
in at the back and without splits, but a drooping or weeping crest shall have
preference. The body should in shape resemble that of a bullfinch
possessing substance in proportion to its length with a broad back, nicely
arched, full and well circled chest, tail short and narrow wings not
extending beyond root of tail, nor crossed at tips, but fitting closely to the
body. The neck should be full and the beak short. The bird should stand
well across the perch on short legs, with thighs and hocks well set back.
The Crest-bred should possess a body as above described. The head should
be large and round broad at every part, with a small beak and an abundance
of long, broad feathers commencing at entrance of beak, continuing over
the crown and flowing well down the poll and should be well browed. In a
good Crest-bred the feathers of the crown when turned over should reach
the end of the beak, the heavy brow should give the bird a sulky appearance
without brushing. When two or more birds are of equal merit in crest or
head properties the smaller bird shall take precedence, if it is of the correct
type, the Club recognizing it to be more difficult to obtain, but no
restriction whatever is placed on the length of the bird. Quality of feather
and high condition to have due weight.
DIVISION 15 – COCKATIELS
The National Cockatiel Society welcomes you to this Cockatiel specialty show. The
society was organized to meet the growing needs of breeders and exhibitors and to allow
them to have a voice in the Society and in the direction of the Cockatiel's development. NCS
will accept any traceable closed band and recommends the use of any standard-type
Cockatiel show cage.
Visual Standard
The NCS Standard envisions a long, graceful bird of
good body substance and equal proportions. The
Cockatiel should measure 14 inches in length from the top
of the crown to the tip of the tail. In addition, the crest
should approach 3 inches in length. Proportionally, the
bird should measure equally in length from the top of the
crown to the vent, the top of the shoulder to the tip of the
wing, and from the vent to the tip of the tail.
The crest, as the Cockatiel's chief physical trademark,
should be full and showy, curving back gracefully, with
the longer filaments graduating evenly down towards the
shorter ones at the rear of the skull. The head should be
large and well-rounded without evidence of a “flat top”
either behind the crest or at the back of the skull (with
good width between) and sheltered by a pronounced
frontal browline, creating a proud, “hawklike”
appearance when viewed from the front. The bright
orange cheek patches should be round, well-colored, and
free of “bleeding” extraneous orange feathers elsewhere
on the face. The beak should be clean, tucked in and of
normal length. The lower mandible should be only partly
visible. The yellow face of adult males should be brightly
colored and without extraneous grey or orange feathers
(except for young males going through the moult) and
clearly contrast where it meets the main body feathers.
The bib should be deep. The neck, adding grace to the
form, should be neither too long nor too short, and
particularly evident when the bird is in an alert stance.
The Cockatiel is a sleek, stream-lined bird, yet full
bodied, showing good substance. When viewed from the
front (or back), a generous width across the chest and
shoulders in adults (particularly hens) should be evident.
The back should be straight, blending with the slender,
tapering abdomen. The wings should be large and wide,
held tightly, hugging the body with tips close to the tail,
without crossing or dropping. All flight feathers should be
present. The wing patch should approach ¾ of an inch in
width and be clear of extraneous dark feathers.
DIVISION 19 – YOUTH
Sponsor - In memory of Joe Cariker ( anonymous)
John & Jane Muscato
Youth College Scholarship - Since 2001, the NCBS in partnership with
Higgins Premium Pet Foods, has awarded a $1,000 college scholarship to
the Youth Division exhibition winner.
Eligibility Requirements:
The participant must have completed the 6th grade.
Be present at the NCBS and comply with show catalog rules.
Complete separate entry forms for each general competition division.
Check the appropriate bird division for general competition on the form
and also check YOUTH DIVISION. Attach the general cage tag to the
left side of the cage. In addition attach a YOUTH IDENTIFICATION
RIBBON to the right side of the cage.
Turn in all entry sheets to the secretaries by Thursday evening of
the show.
Enter all birds by 7:30am on Friday of the show. Youth entries will
be included in the total division count of their respective divisions.
Show judges will begin judging youth division entries at 8:00 am on
Friday at their respective judging stands. Only one bird from a
division may qualify for the final scholarship judging.
Following the youth division judging, the steward will place all youth
birds in their designated classes for general competition. The youth
birds, in general competition, are eligible to advance based on merit
for division and other show awards.
The scholarship winner will be selected by the judges who had youth
entries in their division on Saturday immediately following the
Scannell judging. These judges will use a score card to rank the finalist.
A maximum of four scholarships may be won by any youth exhibitor. The
scholarship may be used at any fully accredited college or university
including community colleges, vocational schools, and technical
schools. The scholarship must be used at the first Fall enrollment
immediately following high school graduation. If a student accumulates
more than one scholarship, only one scholarship may be used per year.
Remaining scholarships must be used in consecutive years. Students must
notify the NCBS of their school enrollment and provide verification
from the school. The scholarship funds will then be paid directly to
the school for tuition, fees, and supplies.
