COMPUTER LITERACY : CERTIFICATE ATTACHEDWORK EXPIRIENCEI was appointed as an agricultural scientist (soil science) in the Department of Agriculture(Capricorn District) in 2004/07/01 under the section farmer support. On the 2 nd of May 2006the Department transferred me to the Provincial Head Office under the branch Crop Production.Currently I am working at the Agricultural Research Council (ISCW) in Pretoria under thedivision, Pedometrics.DISTRICT RESPONSIBILITIES AND EXPIRIENCEAt large, the District had entrusted me with the management of all soil related services for theimprovement and increase of sustainable and economically viable agricultural practices withinthe district. The following are some of the responsibilities and work accomplished: To co-ordinate and conduct soil surveys for the development of soil data for proper landuse planning and project development. To develop and manage soil maps through soil classification and analysis for bothvillages and projects. A Geographical Information System (using Arc View) was usedfor the development and storage of maps. Two village maps were fully developed and aseveral number of projects classified. The village maps were developed through a coordinated working program involvingMunicipal Extension Services through extension officers, the Tribal authority and thecommunity at large. Soil conservation and management capacity building were coupledwith the survey procedures. Two land use planning projects were fully accomplished in collaboration with theDepartment of Correctional Services and the Local Government Municipal office. To facilitate acquisition of base maps and relevant information for the reference andproduction of village and project maps. Base maps of the work done in the formerLebowa Government and also from consultants, among other resources, was acquired. To provide capacity building to farmers as well as extension officers in relation to soilconservation and management issues. A number of training sessions were held on soilsampling, classification and the overall management of soils. To provide advice and support on soil related issues for project development. Thesupport services were provided via an interactive service delivery action involving alldistrict components such as Land Care, CASP, Municipal and the others. To assist in the compilation of monthly District and CASP reports with their incurredbudgets.


PROVINCIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND EXPIRIENCEThe above District responsibilities still hold for the Provincial office responsibilities with theaddition of a few that follow: I was selected and trained (on ArcGIS) as one of the nine Provincial GIS power userscharged with the responsibility of managing the technical information systems of theDepartment with relevant report writing. The relevant certificates are attached. To provide soil related services within RESIS irrigation schemes in the province. To develop soil management manuals for farmer capacity building. My research/dissertation concentrated on the XRD studies of soil clay minerals in soilsof the Limpopo Province (South Africa) with their related agricultural implications. Courses already completed include Soil Mineralogy, Soil Chemistry, Remote Sensing,Precision Agriculture and GIS. An academic record of the courses obtained is attached. I was also trained on EIA (Enviromental Impact Assessment) for better land usemanagement and proper project planning.AGRICULTURAL RESEARCH COUNCIL RESPONSIBILITIES Soil field survey in relation to the derivation of soil maps and reports for clients fromvarying institutions (mining, departmental, framers associations, academic, etc),including private clients. Research on soil groups of South Africa relating to aspects of their formation andrelated agricultural implications. Research on proposed projects from both local and international organizations anddepartments for community development and food security oriented objectives. Support of departmental policy development through the provision of appropriateinformation. Support community and small scale farmers through training programs aimed atcapacity building.INHERENT ABILITIESGood communication skills, organizational abilities and like working with people.
