Wearrived a little late due to the M4 being closed. So,when we arrived we had sadly, missed the coffee andintroductions. However, Miss Lewis had phonedahead and a lovely man, who worked for UWE, tookus directly to the Forensic computing course. For Forensic Computing we were set the task ofexamining the computer hard drives of a fictionalstalker, who sent emails to the girl he was stalkingand his partner in crime. We had to work out whothe stalker was. We didn’t realise how much money youcould make in this field! We were also able to talk tocurrent computing students. After this we hadlecture about computing in the university and howthe future will need us!Lunch was one of the highlights of the day – wecould choose from sandwiches, pasta, and nachosand even breakfast! It was in a huge lunch roomwhich made us feel like proper university students.<strong>The</strong> next course we took part in was HomeNetworking. For this we discovered how to usecommand prompt, which is a command line interfacethat does everything the graphical user interfacedoes, except in code. This was my first timeprogramming and I managedtocommand it to open Google -so I was very pleased! Otherstudents went to the Javaprogramming course and hadfun making a java game whichdrove a car simulation around thescreen. By Maddi Ventour-Page Year 12
