About the Center for Puppetry Arts The Center for Puppetry Arts is the nation’s largest non-profit organization dedicated to the art form of puppetry and focuses on three areas: performance, education and museum. Each year the Center brings quality programming to Atlanta. Three performance series host a variety of shows geared toward educating as well as entertaining audiences. Patrons of all ages enjoy the productions in the Family Series and SummerFest. Most productions meet Georgia QCC Standards, and Study Guides for each Family Series show are available online for download. More mature audiences appreciate the artistry and humor of the New Directions Series, which includes the popular Xperimental Puppetry Theater. In addition to presenting riveting productions, the Center also has two museum spaces and offers a variety of classes and workshops for adults and children alike. PUPPETS: The Power of Wonder is an inviting, interactive museum, which provides hands-on educational fun with over 350 puppets from around the world. Additional puppets and objects are on display in our special exhibit gallery and special exhibits throughout the building. Create-A-Puppet Workshops, offered in conjunction with Family Series performances, encourage children to build a puppet of their own that is related to the show. Adults can learn more about different aspects of puppetry in the Adult Education Series, and the Distance Learning program reaches people across North America and around the world with a virtual field trip experience. All activities presented at the Center are educational; programming meets curriculum standards in Language Arts, Fine Arts and Character Education, among others. 5
