PrefaceThis volume contains the proceedings ofVASBI, the ICM2006 satellite on K-theory andNoncommutative Geometry which took place in Valladolid, Spain, from August 31 toSeptember 6, 2006. The conference’s Scientific Committee was composed of JoachimCuntz, Max Karoubi, Ryszard Nest and Charles A. Weibel. The conference was madepossible through a grant by Caja Duero; additional funding was provided by the Universityof Valladolid. Funding to cover expenses of US based participants was providedby NSF, through a grant to C. A. Weibel, who was responsible, first of all, for preparinga succesful funding application, and then for managing the funds. The local committee,composed of N. Abad and E.
