ALTENDORF WA 805Altendorf WA 80: Quality made in Germany. The WA 80 is manufacturedexclusively at Altendorf’sMinden headquarters, the homeof the F 45 and F 45 ELMO.The Altendorf WA 80 is built on the same production lines as the classicmodels of the F 45 product range. And with the same high qualitystandards, so you can be sure that your WA 80 contains only the bestAltendorf quality – from the tried and trusted double roller carriage tothe high-precision fences and the powerful saw unit. And there’s anotherthing the WA 80 has copied from its “big sisters”: you can tailor themachine just as you like for whatever work you do with a range of optionssuch as the eye-level control panel, the fine adjustment on the rip fenceor the additional workpiece supports. In view of its attractive basic price, the WA 80 also makes an ideal choice as an entry-level or secondmachine – yet another reason to anticipate the pleasure of meeting it!

6ALTENDORF WA 80Essential elements of Altendorf design.Machine frame. The WA 80 has a torsion-resistant machine framebuilt in the same way as the machine frames for the F 45 series. Theframe design ensures very smooth running and stability. The machineframe is fully enclosed with the connection socket for the extractionhose located in an easily accessible central position.Saw Unit. The Altendorf sawunit is the engineering heart ofall our saws. It is a powerhouseproduced with the latest manufacturingtechnology. The sawshaft runs incredibly smoothly:this is because it is electronicallybalanced as a fully assembledunit, and extensive use is madeof cast components. The highprecisionvertical movement ofthe unit is linear with maintenance-freeguide bearings. Therobust tilt quadrants incorporatethe traditional Altendorf tongueand groove connection system, which allows the whole unit totilt easily and precisely to exactlythe correct angle.Crosscut fence. The robustlymounted crosscut fence enablesprecise cutting of 90° angles. Allsettings are easy to read off theslanted scales. The flip stops arerobust, free of play and are easyto slide individually along the fullcrosscutting range.Extraction hood. The Altendorfextraction and safety hood systemboasts a design which ensuresoptimised airflow. You can switchbetween narrow and wide hoodsin seconds. The hood allowscutting heights of up to 125 mm(with or without scoring unit) andcan be swung away fully to oneside.

The Altendorf sliding table:Smooth running and precise guiding.Sliding table. The Altendorf sliding table is renowned for its smoothand exact running. This is hallmark of an Altendorf, and it all comesdown to design: the table runs on large dumb bell rollers sandwichedbetween hard chromed guide bars, guaranteeing absolute precision. Thesystem’s large rollers ensure smooth action, meaning the table takes lesseffort to move and glides as securely as if it were on rails. This qualityrunning will endure decades of heavy load bearing in the constantpresence of dust and chips, and it needs virtually no maintenance. Eachtime the table moves, the brush fitted to the upper part automaticallycleans the round guide bars. The system operates without any lubrication. The table’s hollow multi-chamber aluminium extrusion guaranteesoptimal torsion resistance and rigidity. The principle of the sliding table. Wilhelm Altendorf discovered that the only way toachieve an absolutely straight edge, which in turn is required as a reference edge for preciserip and crosscutting, was to guide a static workpiece through the rotating saw blade by holdingit firmly on a moving support. To begin with, Wilhelm Altendorf used a wooden push slidesystem to guide the workpiece. In the 1930s, Altendorf developed the double roller carriage.Since the development of the aluminium sliding table in the 1950s we know of no bettersystem than the double roller carriage in terms of smooth running, precision, torsionresistanceand low maintenance. Over 120 000 users worldwide agree with us.

ALTENDORF WA 809Options which give you that little bit more.Pivoting eye-level controlpanel. You can see all the centralcontrol functions here at a glance. The control panel can be pivotedso as to be accessible from everyoperating position to the right andleft of the saw blade.Rip fence with fine adjustment.Manual fine adjustmentenables the rip fence to beadjusted precisely. The fencecan be set with pinpoint precisionby means of the adjusting screw.DIGIT X. A digital cuttingwidth display for the rip fencewith manual fine adjustment. This electronic measuring systemguarantees rapid, precise adjustmentof the rip fence. DIGIT Xalso offers repeat accuracy: thefence can be moved and thenreturned to exactly where it waspreviously. The system is immuneto both wear and dust. Dimensionsare corrected automaticallywhen the fence is changed fromthe upright to the flat position.RAPIDO scoring tool. TheRAPIDO scoring system makesit easier and quicker to adjust thecutting width to match that of themain blade. How quick? Aboutthree minutes, max! Comparedto working with shims, whereyou have to take the blade offthe machine to alter its width, the RAPIDO saves up to 30 minutestime, as the blade stays onthe machine during adjustment.Adjustment is continuous so theRAPIDO can be fine-tuned tomatch any main blade. Adjustmentrange: 2.8 – 3.8 mm.One-sided mitre fence. Theone-sided mitre fence enablesprecise cutting of mitres. It is easyto set and can be positioned onthe sliding table with the minimumof effort.

10ALTENDORF WA 80Options which take you to a higher level.DIGIT L crosscut fence. This fence has a digital lengthdisplay with fine adjustment allowingprecise setting to within+/– 1/10 mm over a range from150 – 3200 mm. The stop beingdisplayed changes at the touchof a button. Calibration, e.g. afterchanging saw blades, is quickand easy, all three stop positionsbeing calibrated in a single operation. The electronics are on permanentlyso they can be used atany time.DUPLEX double-sided mitrefence. DUPLEX fences make itpossible to cut any angle between0 and 90° very quickly and exactly. At 45°, the mitre can be cut onboth sides of the workpiece withouthaving to adjust the fence. The dimensions are set using amagnifying glass, measuring scaleand length compensation scale. Also available as DUPLEX D withdigital angle display.DUPLEX DD. An exclusiveAltendorf development, theDUPLEX DD has been patentedworldwide. The high precisionDUPLEX DD electronics incorporateautomatic length compensationand calculate the distanceto the stops as a function of theangle on both sides of the fenceand display both figures digitally. All varieties of DUPLEX can bepositioned anywhere along thelength of the sliding table.STEG – second support on thesliding table. Enlarges supportarea (width: 400 mm) for widerworkpieces. Makes it much easierto size large panels.Manual quick-action clamp. The manual clamp can be easilypositioned on the sliding tableand is equally easy to fix. Theworkpiece is then firmly securedon the table and held firmlyagainst the crosscut fence. Thisprovides extra safety at very littleextra cost.
