Who says Switzerland has no natural resources …? Urban mining helps to complete the raw materials cycle. Enabling highly developed economies that have no natural deposits themselves to satisfy their needs for raw materials necessitates exploiting secondary resources still more efficiently. Hence Switzerland already collects thousands of tonnes of aluminium, iron and copper each year. The SENS system contributes a substantial share of these valuable and increasingly scarce raw materials, by recycling used electrical and electronic appliances. 32 SENS Annual Report 2011
