or switching equipment permitting simple access control<br />

e.g. via mobile phones. Thanks to the easy integration of the<br />

<strong>RF</strong> Switch Point, the cylinder may for instance be used in the<br />

homecare domain. The cylinder can also be controlled via the<br />

<strong>RF</strong> Switch Point from any mobile or stationary device (such as<br />

GSM modems).<br />

The transponder-free solution<br />

The <strong>OMEGA</strong> <strong>RF</strong> cylinder is a radio frequency cylinder that can be<br />

actuated e.g. via pin pads, biometric terminals or GSM modules. It<br />

can be controlled from any existing access control system or other<br />

installations having a zero-potential switch that can be used as<br />

the enabling element.<br />

The <strong>RF</strong> cylinder is combined with the <strong>RF</strong> Switch Point which evaluates<br />

the zero-potential switch and controls the cylinder enable using<br />

an AES-encrypted radio signal. Since the distance between the<br />

<strong>RF</strong> Switch Point and the cylinder can be as much as 10 metres, the<br />

<strong>OMEGA</strong> <strong>RF</strong> cylinder can be used for an extremely wide range of<br />

applications in the building.<br />

The <strong>RF</strong> Switch Point was designed so that it can not only be integrated<br />

in the standard CES case but also in existing devices of<br />

access control systems.<br />

Installation without wiring<br />

The <strong>RF</strong> cylinder comprises a Mifare reading and control unit in<br />

addition to its radio transceiver so that any Mifare Classic transponder<br />

can be used as an emergency key. In case of a power<br />

failure or a failure of the access control system, the user then<br />

has a battery-operated locking cylinder with a Mifare transponder<br />

as an emergency key at his or her disposal. The cylinder<br />

can thus be used as an easily installed alternative to door openers<br />

or other actors for which no wiring of the door is required.<br />
