FOURRÉ dans le bulletin 1983, est rare. DepuisVictor DUPAIN, pharmacien à La Mothe-Saint-Héray, auquel E. BOUDIER dédia cetteespèce, les observations signalées dans le Centre-Ouest ont été faites dans les départementsdes Deux-Sèvres, de Charente-Maritime et de Dordogne.Bo/etus Dupainii n'est pas souvent décrit dans les ouvrages spécialisés. L'iconographieen particulier est peu abondante. Il est souvent représenté avec un pied relativementgrêle (SOUDIER, CETTO (4), LECLAIR et ESSETTE), correspondant à unXerocomus, auquel ce Bolet se rattache par certains caractères microscopiques (LEGAL, in KÜHNER & ROMAGNESI). L'exemplaire de Charente présente par contreun pied caractéristique de Tubiporus, correspondant bien à l'illustration qu'en donnentMARCHAND ou CETTO (5).L'exemplaire que j'ai récolté présentait les dimensions suivantes:diamètre du chapeau: 7-8 cmhauteur du pied : 9 cmlargeur maximale du pied: 6,5 cmlargeur minimale du pied: 4 cmLe chapeau, convexe, présente à l'état frais une cuticule visqueuse d'un beaurouge écarlate. Les pores sont rouge-sang, et bleuissent instantanément au toucher.Le pied est robuste, ventru et atténué dans le haut. Un réseau rouge, présent à l'extrémitédu pied, est rapidement remplacé par un pointillé rouge.Le Bolet de Dupain semble être une espèce plutôt estivale. Victor DUPAIN l'adécouvert un mois d'août; les récoltes citées par G. FOURRÉ ont été faites en juillet,août et mi-septembre.Le lieu de récolte de Charente se situe sur sol peu profond avec nombreux cailloux,sur calcaire coniacien. Le sol est plus ou moins décalcifié localement, commel'atteste la végétation phanérogamique : quelques Ouercus pubescens ssp. pubescens,parmi Ouercus robur ssp. robur et Quercus petraea, Castanea sativa, Ericascoparia ssp. scoparia, Pteridium aquilinum, Teucrium scorodonia ssp. scorodonia...Le caractère thermophile de la végétation est donné par la présence de Sorbus tormina/is,Rubia peregrina et, en lisière, de Ligustrum vu/gare. Localement, Hedera he/ixssp. helix peut être abondant. Ajoutons enfin la présence de quelques Pinus sy/vestrisdisséminés.Bibliographie.1. BLUM J., (1962). - Les Bolets. Ed.
