LES GENRES ASPICILIA ET BELLEMEREA 135Diagnosis/DiagnozoThal/us crustaceus, areolatus aut areolato-verrucosus (rarius continuus aut hicet il/ic rimosus). Apothecia cryptolecanorina (plus minusve in thal/o immersa, thallinomargine parum distincto). Epithecium fuscovirens aut viridofuscum, plerumqueN + (viridissimum), rarius N- aut vix N + (virens). Paraphyses plus minusve ramosoanastomosaeve/ simplices. Asci culmen (tholus) 1- vell+ (pal/ide caeruleum). Sporaeoctonae, sine saepto, sine colore, variis mensuris, el/ipsoideae, non halonatae.Aiga protococcoidea.Talo krusteca, areola aù veruk-areola (pli malofte kontinua aù lokloke fendeta).Apothecioj aspiciliecaj (plimalpli entalaj, kun tala randajo ne tre distingebla). Epiteciobrunete verda aù verde bruneta, generale N + (tre verda), plimalofte N- aù apenaùN + (verda). Parafizaro plimalplibranêa-anastomoza aù simpla. Askosupro (toluso)J- aù ete kaj homogene J+ (helege blua). Sporoj 8-opaj, senseptaj, senkoloraj,diversdimensiaj, elipsoidaj, senhaloaj. Aigo protokokoida.Ainsi défini, le genre Aspicilia peut être subdivisé en quatre sous-genres dont nousdonnons la diagnose avec la liste des principales espèces connues en Europeoccidentale.A. Sous-genre AspiciliaEpithécium vert brunâtre, N + (vert vif) sauf chez P. Iignicola et P. recedens.Paraphyses généralement ± ramifiées-anastomosées. Spores à paroi mince. Thallele plus souvent non lobé. Apothécies non enfoncées dans des verrues thallines.Epithecium fuscovirens, N+ (acriter virens), praeter P. Iignicola et P. recedens.Paraphyses plerumque plus minusve ramoso-anastomosae ; sporae tenui pariete.Thal/us saepissime non lobatus. Talo plejoftesenloba. Apotecioj ne entalverukaj.1 - Espèce type (typus subgeneris/subgenra tipo) : Aspicilia polygonia (Schaer.)MassaI. (selon HAFELLNER, 1984, article sous-presse) = A. po/ygonia (ViiI.)MassaI.D'après CHOISY (1929 : 525) et ZAHLBRUCKNER (1928 : 279) cette espèceserait peut-être synonyme d'A. cinerea (l.) Kôrb. et, bien qu'HAFELLNER mentionneSCHAERER comme auteur du basionyme po/ygonius, le premier auteur qui en aitfait mention est VILLARS (1789 : 995). C'est pourquoi nous avons essayé de nousprocurer le type du Lichen polygonius ViiI.. Malheureusement ce lichen ne se trouvepas au Musée d'Histoire Naturelle de Grenoble où est conservé l'herbier de VILLARS.En effet, J. ASTA et le conservateur de ce musée, que nous remercions bien vivementpour leur aide, l'y ont vainement cherché.Par contre, l'herbier de SCHAERER, déposé au Musée de Genève, contient troisspécimens de lichens dont le nom, donné par SCHAERER lui-même, comporte l'épithètepo/ygonia.Grâce à l'amabilité du conservateur du Muséeet Conservatoire botaniquede Genève, nous avons pu examiner ces échantillons originaux. Deux d'entreeux cor~esl?ondentà Aspicilia rol/eana Hue, espèce très proche, sinon identique àA. caeslOcmerea (Nyl. ex Malbr.) Arnold; parmi ceux-ci, l'un, qui porte la mention« Urceo/aria cinerea «. vu/garis A. po/ygonia Schaer., Spicil., p. 71, Enum. p. 86 Adsaxa granitica » correspond vraisemblablement au type de SCHAERER. Le troisièmespécimen est un A. cinerea (L.) Kôrb. typique.
