EQUIPMENT –MICROPLATE EVAPORATORSMicroplate evaporatorsPorvair evaporators are designed to removethe traditional laboratory ‘bottleneck’ ofsolvent evaporation from microplates prior toanalysis or reconstitution in storage buffer.These evaporators give significant throughputadvantages to laboratories looking to optimisemicroplate sample preparation productivity.Faster than centrifugal evaporation,significant increases in sample throughput areachieved through advanced evaporator headtechnology and an innovative manifolddesign, which directly injects heated nitrogeninto each individual well of the microplatesimultaneously. The evaporators have beendesigned to be simple to install, operate andmaintain. Installation requires only connectionto a gas supply or cylinder and mainselectricity. Safety of operation is ensured asthe CE marked compact units fit into all fumecupboards. Not suitable for high boilingsolvents such as DMSO and water.Both MiniVap and UltraVap may be operatedwith a supply of clean, dry compressed air inplace of nitrogen, if the chemistry allows. Anin-line gas filter must be used in this case.MiniVapMiniVapThe MiniVap is purpose designed for low usage research anddevelopment departments where low numbers of individualplates or vials need drying. The MiniVap is simple to operateand maintain. Installation requires only connection to a gassupply and standard mains socket. It can be used as astand alone unit or driven by a computer,often connected to a robotic liquid handler.After empirical data for dry down has beenproduced, this can be entered into thememory of the Ultravap for future recall anduse. Each programme has three stages, withcontrol of gas temperature, pressure and plateheight at each stage. Nine different methodscan be permanently stored in memory.
