Keane, formerly <strong>of</strong> Knocknagoshel, Co. Kerry, died in JerseyCity NJ on December 6th, 1940, at the age <strong>of</strong> 73. His wife, the former Mollie O'<strong>Sullivan</strong><strong>of</strong> Brosna, died on January 31st <strong>of</strong> the same year at the age <strong>of</strong> 67. Each was the last <strong>of</strong> two widelyknown families.Mrs. Keane's uncle was Patrick O'<strong>Sullivan</strong>, the well-known schoolmaster, father <strong>of</strong>Father Dan O'<strong>Sullivan</strong> the famous preacher. Mr. Keane was one <strong>of</strong> the founders<strong>of</strong> James Butler Grocery chain <strong>of</strong> New York, <strong>and</strong> he gave employment to dozens <strong>of</strong>young men from Kerry in the early years <strong>of</strong> the century.>Mr. Keane was attended in his last illness by his son, the Rev Kerr J.Keane, S.J. The <strong>of</strong>ficers at the Mass <strong>and</strong> at the cemetery were Father Keane,Rev. James Rohan, S.J. <strong>and</strong> Rev. Daniel Stack, S.J. Among the priests present atthe Mass were Kerry O.C. Keane, C.S.Sp, <strong>of</strong> Knocknagoshel, now a pastor inPhiladelphia.
