Implementation of Transitional Laws in Serbia 2006Sljivo’s employment stopped on April 2 nd , 1999 because he declared inwritten form he wanted to terminate his employment contract 941 .Soon after, on May 19 th , 1999, eight military policemen came looking forSljivo Senad in his apartment in Jagodina 942 . The whole family was in thebasement because of the bombing. With the use of force on him and hisfamily (his wife was hit with rifle-stock), he was arrested and first taken tothe barracks in Cuprija and then to the Military Court in Kragujevac 943 .According to the Sljivo Senad’s statement given to the investigators of theInitiative while he was in the barracks in Cuprija, military policemen used tosay to him: “Now we are going to fuck you up, to shoot you, to show you whatSerbia is” 944 . All the time he had a gun pointed at his head. He was not givensummons for interrogation or anything similar and in the Military Courtin Kragujevac he was read minutes from the hearing he never attended 945 .He then found out that the Ministry of Interior, Secretariat in Jagodina,on March 26 th , 1999 pressed charges against him due to alleged groundeddoubt he committed criminal act of not responding to the summons andby evading military service 946 . These charges were pressed to the MunicipalPublic Prosecutor in Jagodina that forwarded it to the Military Prosecutorin the county of Kragujevac 947 .After that, the Military Prosecutor’s Office in Kragujevac district pressedcharges against Sljivo Senad due to criminal act of not responding to thesummons and of evading military service 948 . After the interrogation in theMilitary Court he was said to have been temporarily released home. SljivoSenad’s family went to Montenegro soon after 949 . They spent there onemonth and then left for Bosnia. After spending two months in Bosnia,Sljivo Senad’s family returned to Jagodina and he got back in 2000 950 . Implementation of Transitional Laws in Serbia 2006call-up 951 . The military prosecutor thereby determined Sljivo Senad did notcommit the criminal offence he was accused of. Milorad Jerotijevic, also thepolice officer in the Secretariat of Interior in Jagodina, told Senad Sljivothere were many more police officers who had refused to go to Kosovo butnobody except him received criminal charges or was blackmailed to signlabor contract termination. All of them are still employed in Secretariat ofInterior in Jagodina 952 .The Law on Rehabilitation 953 came into force in April 2006 and soon after,at the end of May, the Initiative filed request for rehabilitation of SenadSljivo 954 in the District Court in Jagodina. This law regulates rehabilitationof those who were deprived of life, freedom or some other rights, withor without court or administrative decision out of political or ideologicalreasons, starting from April 6 th , 1941 till the day when this law came intoforce 955 . The person is also required to have the residence on the territoryof the Republic of Serbia 956 . By this request, the Initiative asked from theDistrict Court in Jagodina to rule out the decision on the termination ofemployment contract and all its consequences and to put him back onduties he had performed in the Serbian Ministry of Interior before forcedtermination of his employment contract 957 . Also, the Initiative requested topublish Sljivo Senad’s name and details about him as rehabilitated person 958in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Serbia. Since the District Courthas not passed any feedback on this request’s status, the Initiative calledthe District Court in the middle of October and received the followinginformation: case number is REH 2/06 and proceedings judge is SvetlanaJeremic 959 .
