Implementation of Transitional Laws in Serbia 2006For the war crime against civilians 657 , the Prosecution issued an indictment 658against Anton Lekaj 659 . The Prosecution issued an indictment 660 against SasaRadak 661 on April 13 th , 2005, charging him of committing criminal act, warcrime against the prisoners of war 662 .The first case initiated before the War Crimes Chamber was the “Ovcara”case. The indictment 663 charges 17 people for committing criminal actsof war crimes against the prisoners of war 664 on the “Ovcara” farm. Theprocessing of this case was crucial in establishing the rule of law andcontinuing the process of facing the past. That was, also, an opportunityfor the War Crimes Chamber to demonstrate in front of the Serbian andinternational public that they are capable of handling such a difficult casein adequate manner, in spite of the pressure put on by parts of Serbianpublic. After difficult and straining process, on December 12 th 2005, the WarCrimes Chamber reached a verdict by which 14 accused were sentenced toprison sentences in range between five and 20 years 665 .
