Show at the new RoyalHorticultural Society's Hall on October9th. This grand occasion was theculmination of months of work by MissK. Yorke, Chairman ol' the GoverningCouncil of the Cat Fancy ; Mr. A. A.Towe. the Show Manager. and rhoExecutive Committee of the GoverningCouncil.Breeders responded splendidly bymaking a magnificent entry of 412exhibits (not counting individual kittensin litters), a record number for a Championshipfixture with the exception of thefine Festival Show we had in 1951. In thedim and distant past more exhibits haveappeared at a show but they were mostlyol'unknown parentage and not the felinearistocrats which dominate our showsnowadays. The Hall is ideal with itshuge expanse of glass roof, and some ofthe cats were literally basking in sunshine. The number of well-known officials andbreeders from abroad was a great featureof this show and gave it a truly internationalatmosphere. Madame Ravel,Secretary-General of F.LF.E., MadameGibbon and her daughter Liseron fromLausanne, Madame Sandoz from Zwich,Switzerland, Miss Posthuma from Holland,Mrs. The silvercups and trophies of the various Clubs(valued at several hundred pounds)made a magnificenr display and rhe 327special prizes donated by cat clubs andbreeders from many countries looked veryattractive on a long table on the centredais. It was very rewarding to see thevisitors streaming in when the doorsopened at 1 p.m. and by 3 p.m., rvhenBest in Show was judged, spectators weremassed round the dais.
