COACHING STAFF4CoachMike DeWittCONTINUED98, Centre was 15-10, its best recordsince 1993.Prior to coaching at Centre, De-Witt was the head men’s basketballcoach at Hiram College. The Terrierswent 6-19 in his first season afterlosing 4 starters from the previousyear and improved to 9-16 in 1995-96while competing in the rugged <strong>Ohio</strong>Athletic Conference.DeWitt also served as an assistantmen’s basketball coach atKenyon for 2 seasons, helping theLords to a 40-15 record and an NCACtournament championship duringthat span, and was an assistantcoach at <strong>Ohio</strong> <strong>Wesleyan</strong> for 3 seasonsprior to that. While in his first stinton the Bishop coaching staff, heserved as head junior varsity coach,shared scouting and recruiting dutiesand helped <strong>guide</strong> the Bishops toa 45-36 mark.During his playing career,DeWitt was a member of 3 conferencechampionship teams. He wasa 2-time All-NCAC selection at <strong>Ohio</strong><strong>Wesleyan</strong>, ranking second on theteam in scoring as a junior with 16.9points per game and third on theteam as a senior with an average of13.9 points per game. He helped theBishops win NCAC championships in1985-86 and 1986-87 and an NCACtournament title in 1985-86. He beganhis playing career at Wittenberg<strong>University</strong> and was a member of theTigers’ 1982-83 team that reachedthe NCAA Division III championshipgame.DeWitt earned his master’sdegree in physical education fromThe <strong>Ohio</strong> State <strong>University</strong> in 1990.
