Mobrey Magnetic Safety Switch

ConstructionThe Mobrey Measurement safety switchhas two main components :Fixed AssemblyComprises a die-cast aluminium housingcontaining the second 'T' shapedmagnet, retaining magnet, switchcontacts and terminals. The retainingmagnet ensures that the contactschangeover with a positive action.Actuating AssemblyThis assembly is attached to the movableguard or door. The 'T' shaped permanentmagnet is spring mounted in a bracketproviding sufficient flexibility to allow forslight misalignment with the 'T' recess inthe fixed assembly.SpecificationThe Mobrey Magnetic Safety Switch isan interlock switch recommended foruse where sealed switch is required. Itis the responsibility of the user to carryout a suitable risk assessment exerciseof the total safety system.ElectricalThe single-pole double throwchangeover switch is of the air breaktype employing fine silver-facedcontacts.ConnectionsTerminals : A-AB closed with guard inplace. In series with stop button.Terminals : B-AB open with guard inplace. May be used to operate 'guardopen' warning light.Installation and WiringMechanicalMounting : the switch will operate inany position.A suitable cable gland must be fittedto maintain the IP rating. Maximum rating as above.Single SwitchMulti - SwitchMobrey Measurement magneticsafety switches may be wired inseries, provided that any common'guard open' indicator deviceis operated by the contacts ofthe motor starter or contactor.Alternatively, each safety switchshould be wired to a dedicated'guard open' indicator.We do not recommend the use of acommon indicating device wired inparallel with the switches.The switch contacts are not suitablefor direct starting of motors.Maintenance : Regular maintenance and inspection is essentialIt is not intended as a guide for badlyconstructed or maintained guards.If a pneumatic or hydraulic interlockbolt is incorporated in the guardmechanism, ensure the bolt can becorrectly located before the A-ABcontacts close.Particular care should be taken ona regular basis to ensure that theactuating magnet does not fail to locateas a result of inadequate maintenanceof the moving guard or a build-up ofdirt and debris from the process in the'T' shaped slot on the switch body, andthat the magnet is regularly checkedto ensure it is free from damage.If the fixed assembly is damagedor worn, it should be completelyreplaced and a new actuatingmagnet sub-assembly also fitted.The Emerson logo is a trade mark and service mark of Emerson Electric Co.Rosemount is a registered trademark of Rosemount Inc.
