I am convinced that the course of my life’s work at the Universityof Judaism, the Brandeis-Bardin Institute, the American HebrewAcademy, and the Mandel Center for Jewish Education of theJCC Association of North America was shaped by my Ramahexperiences. Certainly, it was one of the key reasons that I choseto devote my life to Jewish education and accept these professionalchallenges. But, when all is said and done, I believe that my yearsas a Ramah director were among the most fulfilling andmeaningful of my educational career. For me, working with ayoungster within a Jewish educational setting that creates a totalenvironment is the most powerful work I could ever want to doas an educator.
