Operation • Supervisor Functions •• Setting System ParametersSupervisorFunctionsUpdating Programmer FirmwareOccasionally, an Update may be made to <strong>RoadRunner</strong>’s internal operatingsystem to improve operability. To take advantage of this improvement, thenew operating system must be uploaded into <strong>RoadRunner</strong>. Software Versionis displayed on the keyboard screen at start-up (turn the power off and thenon again).The update process begins at TaskLink. <strong>RoadRunner</strong> system updates, as wellas new device and Socket Adapter support, arrive on a compact disk (CD).Install the update CD onto the computer that has TaskLink on it. It will generallyself-install. When you restart TaskLink the following pop-up messagewill appear:3Figure 3-23—New Software Pop-upCreate a <strong>RoadRunner</strong> System Update Card in TaskLink. Refer to theTaskLink help menu for more information.<strong>RoadRunner</strong> Firmware isanother name for<strong>RoadRunner</strong> SystemSoftware.To perform the <strong>RoadRunner</strong> update after the update card has been created:1. Insert the PCMCIA memory card with the updated <strong>RoadRunner</strong> firmwareinto the PCMCIA card slot beneath the Keypad.2. Press the Menu button on the Keypad until the top level menu isreached. (You are at the top level when pressing Menu does not changethe display.)3. Scroll to and select System.4. Scroll to and select Update Software.CAUTION: Do not switch the power off while the update is inprogress. The <strong>RoadRunner</strong> might get damaged and require service.5.
