Operation • Operator Functions •• Keypad OperationOperator FunctionsKeypad Operation3This manual uses the wordscroll to mean “press theUp Arrow or Down Arrow.”The word select is used tomean “press the Select button,”(the button with thecheck mark on it).For example, “Scroll to andselect System.”To make selections with the keypad follow these general guidelines:• Navigate up to the desired menu (or to the top menu) bypressing the Menu button.When you are at the top menu, pressing Menu will have noeffect. (Job is the top item on the top menu. However, youmay need to press the Up Arrow button to see it in the displaywindow.)• Press the Down Arrow to move the triangular indicator downthe list to the desired command. The command is not selecteduntil the Select button is pressed.• Press the Select button to select the item indicated. The menuwill change or the triangular indicator will change to a circlewhen the item is selected.• With some functions, the way the Up Arrow and DownArrow keys function will change while that item is selected.For example, when Advance Pocket is selected, the UpArrow advances the device tape rather than scrolling themenu. See Figure 3-2.• To deselect an item press Menu.
