2.3.1. Editing a Patient RecordWhen you have found the patient you wish to edit, use the mouse or to select thepart of the record you want to change. The content of each section of the screen reflectsthe selected record in the previous section. For example, if there are two pregnancyrecords, the requisition information will pertain to the pregnancy that is highlighted; ifthere are two requisitions within a pregnancy, the specimen section will displayinformation related to the highlighted requisition and if there are two specimens, theresults section will display the results for the highlighted specimen. Using the mouse,you can go straight to the record you want to edit and double click to open theappropriate screen. If you prefer not to use the mouse, to the record you want toopen and when it is highlighted .Once the appropriate screen is open, you may tab to the field you wish to edit. If you do,the content of the field will be highlighted, and you can replace it by typing newinformation or making a new selection. Or you may select the field to edit using themouse. In this case, if it is a text field, you will need to use the mouse to highlight thepart of the entry that you wish to overwrite.Deleting RecordsThe following shortcuts may be used to delete records. will delete the current patient and all pregnancy and sample dataassociated with that patient will delete the highlighted pregnancy and all associated requisition andsample data will delete the highlighted requisition and all associated sample data< Ctrl + F7> will delete a sample, but only if it is the second sample of an integratedpanel< Ctrl + F8> will delete all results< Ctrl + F9> will delete the highlighted result.NOTE You can always delete a patient record (which deletes all associated records), butsince a patient must have at least one pregnancy record, and a pregnancy at leastone requisition and a requisition at least one sample, you can delete a pregnancy,requisition or a sample only if there are two or more of them. Since, except forintegrated screening, each requisition has only one sample , if you want to deletea sample, you must delete the requisition. For integrated screening, only thesecond sample can be deleted without deleting the requisition.26
