<strong>2010</strong> OWU Men’s SoccerBattlingBishopsCoach Jay MartinHow broad is Jay Martin’s record ofservice to soccer?Come up with any combination oflevel (high school, college, professional)and function (player, coach, administrator),and he’s probably done it.Martin is the winningest active men’ssoccer coach in NCAA Division III history.His career total of 566 wins ranks fourthall-time in college men’s soccer. During the2008 season, Martin passed the legendaryJerry Yeagley of Indiana <strong>University</strong> as wellas Ron Butcher of Keene State, the previousactive Division III wins leader, on thecareer victories list.Martin has <strong>guide</strong>d his 33 BattlingBishop soccer teams to a 566-111-47 record,and his career winning percentage of.814 ranks ninth all-time.Last year, the Bishops ran the tablein the North Coast Athletic Conferencechampionship race for the second straightseason, winning their 18th title in the 26seasons of NCAC competition and allowingonly 2 regular-season goals to set an NCAAall-divisions record. The Bishops advancedto the NCAA Division III playoffs and finishedwith a record of 18-2-2.One of the peaks in Martin’s alreadyillustriouscoaching career came when he<strong>guide</strong>d the Battling Bishops to the 1998NCAA Division III championship.His teams have reached the NCAADivision III semifinals 7 times, finishing asnational runner-up twice in addition to the1998 title.
