"15 8 CHINA MISSION YEAR BOOK.During the past year three new churches have beenbuilt in three widely-separated districts, viz., Mocu,in the Yuyiaohsien ; Chinghse, a walled city at themouth of the Ningpo river ;and Ahcu, on the islandof Nendin, situated at the extieme south of the ChusanArchipelago.Wenchow District. At the ChineseNew Year"our honoured superintendent, Rev. W. E. Soothill, paidhis annual visit to Wenchow. The journey to and fromWenchow from Taiyuanfu is over 3,000 miles, and istaken in cold weather. He says: "All I can say isthat I have never held such meetings before in my lifeand never seen such manifestations of the working ofGod s Holy Spirit in Wenchow, and no greater evenhere (Taiyuanfu) under Mr. Goforth, whose visits toManchuria and to Shansi have recently produced such awonderful repetition of the Welsh Revival. It was awonderful thing to see a whole Wenchow congregationof men and women utterly broken down, weeping andacknowledging their sins in the realized presence ofGod, and this without any factitious attempt on thepreacher s part to work on the feelings of the people."Mr. Stobie asks whether the time has not come,with a Christian community of 9,000, for more beingdone to deepen, strengthen, and illuminate the nativeChristian. How is this to be done with not only aninsufficient, but a depleted staff ?SouthwestChina.Chaotong Church, Tongchuan Church.Tongchuan Church. Five new chapels have beenbuilt by the Miao of these districts. The buildings aremuch like barns four mud walls, mud floors and thatchroofs.Regular preaching on Sundays is conducted in 13or 14 centres. These pulpits are practically rilled byMiao preachers. We have been pleased to notice how,
