The actual increasein gifts by the churches, Young People s Societies,Sunday Schools, and individuals was $96,660.07.Closer and more helpful relations between the severalfields in the Far East were sought by the appointmentof the Rev. John L. Bearing, D.D., as general missionary in the Far East.Missions in China. Churches, 156; members, 5,522 ;added by baptism, 481. Three distinctive forms ofChristian effort are now recognized as of outstandingimportance the training of preachers, the training ofteachers, and the training of physicians.The death of Dr. Win.
