They can also regain Gnosisfrom grottoes, and from undersea spirits called Rorqual —embodied spirits that are nothing short of living caerns.Weresharks can perceive spirits of the deep oceanwithout needing a Gift, but cannot step sideways withoutusing a Gift or the Rite of Passing the Net.Rage, Frenzy, and WillpowerAs a result of needing to move to breathe underwater,the Rokea hate being restrained or confined. Rokea on landwill pace unless the player succeeds in a Willpower roll (difficulty6) each scene. If restrained, such as being grappled orhandcuffed, the Rokea must immediately check for frenzy.Permanently short-tempered, a Rokea must roll onlytwo successes on a Rage roll to frenzy. If she rolls four ormore successes she enters Kunmind, a state similar to theThrall of the Wyrm. Kunmind causes the Rokea to attackany creature within reach, trying to eat anything close by,without regard for friend or foe. Rokea never enter fox frenzy.Rokea begin play with Willpower 4.RegenerationRokea regenerate as Garou do, and like werewolvesthey cannot soak silver damage other than in their breedSENDINGThe Sending is the Rokea’s natural meansform of communication. Weresharks can sendand receive faint electrical pulses, which travelup to half a mile through open water. On land,the Sending has a range of about 50 feet. Undernormal circumstances, no rolls are required touse this ability, it’s as natural as talking is tohumans. However, unless the character uses theDarkwater Gift: Silent Sending, all Rokea withinrange perceive these Sendings.Sending also allows weresharks to freely communicatewith undersea spirits without spendingGnosis or using a Gift. Rokea can receive Sendingsin all of their forms but cannot normallyproduce them in homid form. Until they havespent at least some time on land, most squamousweresharks know no human languages and cannotcommunicate with anyone in homid form.forms. Squamous Rokea can regenerate damage in theirbreed form as long as they are immersed in salt water.RenownSea and Kun are the main arbiters of a Rokea’s Renown.Rokea seeking Harmony or Innovation Renownsend tales of their deeds to Sea and Kun via servant spirits,and they bestow Renown upon the wereshark as they seefit. Valor Renown, on the other fin, must be recognizedby Rokea who are not a part of the Rokea’s own slew.Rokea do not require rank challenges the waywerewolves do. A wereshark who reaches the requisiteamount of permanent Renown is simply considered tobe of the appropriate rank.BreedsThere are two breeds of Rokea, squamous and homid.All weresharks are the offspring of a Rokea and either ashark or (in the case of the Same-Bito) a human Kinfolk;even on land where their mating urge is strong and constant,Rokea feel no physical attraction to those of their own kind.• Homid: Prevalent only among the Same-Bito andexceedingly rare even then, human-born weresharks entertheir First Change around the same age that werewolvesdo. They look more like normal humans and understandhumanity far better than squamus Rokea and can speakhuman languages. Most Rokea find the notion of humanbornweresharks to be abhorrent.Beginning Gnosis: 1• Squamus: The vast majority of Rokea are bornof sharks. Weresharks only breed with the largest anddeadliest species: makos, white sharks, tiger sharks, hammerheads,blue sharks, and thresher sharks.
