2.3.4 Beam Quality
2.3.4.1 The measurement of beam quality defines
a) the fast/thermal neutron ratio, i.e. the cadmium ratio,
b) the gamma ray contamination, i.e. n/γ ratio,
c) the degree of scatter in objects with high scattering cross sections, and
d) the geometric resolution.
2.3.4.2 A knowledge of these factors provide the basis for understanding of
the variance in radiographic results and so the measurement of beam quality
by the use of the beam quality indicator (BQI?) given at para.3 is
recommended.
