IBA Analysis - The Dubai Airshow The Dubai Airshow by numbers The Dubai Airshow broke records left, right and centre with a multitude of new orders valued at over $63 billion at list prices . Ben Jacques, commercial manager at the International Bureau of Aviation (IBA) takes a closer look at the numbers The 2011 Dubai Air Show was another successful show for Airbus, particularly with big orders for the A320 current generation and A320neo next generation variant, without, however, forgetting the A380 orders which will be well received in Toulouse. Boeing also had orders for current and next generation aircraft, both 777 and 787 variants. Orders for the 737 MAX were conspicuous by their absence, although it is expected that Middle Eastern carriers who are evaluating the aircraft at the moment may well place an order in the next year. Bombardier also had its order book swelled, with a significant order for the C-Series 300 from Atlasjet. After the recent spate of orders from leasing companies, it is noteworthy that on this occasion only Aviation Capital Group had signed on the dotted line during Dubai. News in Brief TP Aerospace wins seven-year Wheels & Brakes deal from Atlantic Airways Atlantic Airways, the national airline of the Faroe Islands, selected TP Aerospace Leasing for a seven-year full service Wheels & Brakes Cycle Flat Rate (CFR) Program. TP Aerospace will provide Component Maintenance, Pool Access, Onsite Lease Inventory and Logistics Program in support of Atlantic Airways’ most significant fleet expansion to date. Monarch Aircraft Engineering to provide SMART support to Titan Airways Monarch Aircraft Engineering extended its agreement with Titan Airways to provide a world wide support structure for the use of its SMART team (Specialised Monarch AOG Response Team). Under the terms of the agreement Monarch Aircraft Engineering will provide Titan Airways with a team of specialised engineers which are available 24/7 and can be deployed worldwide. The SMART team will support the entire Titan Airways fleet and can be activated within two hours to manage any AOG requirements. Virgin Atlantic selects NAT and HAECO for B747-400 cabin reconfiguration work Virgin Atlantic Airways entered into agreements with Northwest Aerospace Technologies and Hong Kong Aircraft Engineering Company (HAECO) to provide cabin reconfiguration services for the airline’s Gatwick based fleet of Boeing 747-400 aircraft. The modifications will reconfigure Virgin Atlantics’ B747-400 fleet with new and upgraded passenger seating, a new inflight entertainment system with connectivity, new monuments, interior furnishing and décor enhancements. AELS starts aircraft disassembly at Business Park Aviolanda AELS started the disassembly and dismantling of a Boeing 737-500 at Aviolanda. It’s the first aircraft that is being recycled by AELS at Woensdrecht Airport, Business Park Aviolanda. SAS orders new seats for short-haul fleet Scandinavian Airlines ordered new seats for its shorthaul fleet. During 2012, eight Boeing 737-800 aircraft will be refitted with the new seats, a total of 1,484 seats, and SAS thereafter plans to install the seats on further aircraft the following year.
