� e Vaneyev is a diesel-electric submarine that normally operates<br />
as a hunter-killer in shallow waters. � e submarine’s sole production<br />
facility is the Krasnaya Sormova yard in Kosmomolsk, Russia.<br />
� e Vaneyev has been sold to a number of di� erent nations and<br />
independent parties. While it is not directly sold to known pirates,<br />
a number have fallen into the hands of less-savory owners. � ey were<br />
frequently used along the west coast of South America, but the recent<br />
con� ict has thinned their numbers considerably.<br />
