<strong>SMIQ</strong>RS-232-C InterfaceA.2.2.1Transmission parametersTo ensure an error-free and correct data transmission, the parameters of the instrument and thecontroller should have the same settings. The parameters are set in menu UTILITIES-SYSTEM-RS232.Transmission rateThe following baud rates can be set in the instrument:(baud rate) 1200, 2400, 4800, 9600, 19200, 38400, 57600, 115200.Data bitsStart bitParity bitStop bitData transmission is in 8-bit ASCII code. The first bit transmittedis the LSB (Least Significant Bit). Each data byte begins with a start bit. The falling edge of the startbit indicates the beginning of the data byte.A parity bit is not used. The transmission of a data byte is terminated by a stop bit.Example:Transmission of character A (41 hex) in the 8-bit ASCII code.01 02 03 04 05 06 07 08 09 10Bit 01 = Start bit Bit 02...09 = Data bits Bit 10 = Stop bitBitduration= 1/baud rateA.2.3Interface functionsFor interface control, some control characters defined from 0 to 20 hex of the ASCII code can betransmitted via the interface (see Table A-4).Table A-4Interface functions (RS-232-C)Control characterInterface function 11 hex 13 hexBreak (at least 1 character only log 0)0Dhex, 0AhexEnables character output (XON)Inhibits character output (XOFF)Reset instrumentTerminator , Switchover between local/remote1125.5555.03 A.5E-7
