Ken HoppePresidentA recentCRC fundraising appealletter usedthe followingtheme: “Let’skeep themomentumand progressgoing atCRC.”“Progress”is a wordoften spokenaround theCRC Campus that speaks to the directionand perception of the institution. Thedefinition of progress is “to develop in apositive way” and that is exactly what ishappening at CRC. It is an exciting timein the history of CRC and I hope that youwill join in the excitement, as I describethe progress and recent successes of theCRC team.Progress with Enrollment: As webegan the academic year, a 17% increasein enrollment over the previous yearwas noted. Student enrollment for theSpring Semester of 2011 set an all timehigh enrollment for spring semestersin headcount and FTE. (Full TimeEquivalency) Enrollment for the 2011/2012 academic year will most likely beanother record enrollment.Progress with Facilities: Last year’simprovements to the college facilitiesincluded:• A new and completely furnishedStudent Center• New and completely furnisheddressing rooms in the Carter ActivitiesCenter• Renovated Wilson Hall Lobby withnew furnishings• Concreted roads and parking areas• New landscaping at Wilson Hall andPioneer Lake• New storage facility and playingsurface improvements at Pioneer FieldProgress with Facilities – Our plansfor the future: Because of increasedenrollments over the last several years,CRC is experiencing an “over capacity”PROGRESS: A WORD OFTEN SPOKENcondition in our existing residentialfacilities - Wilson Hall and Winters Hall. Our master plan for the campus includesconstructing a new 80 bed dormitory. The estimated construction cost is 2.5million dollars. A project of this sizewill take a substantial seed gift to beginconstruction. We are currently visitingwith prospective donors regarding suchmajor gifts. We realize this projectwill materialize in the future, but notbefore we overflow with students in thenext year or two. Our needs are moreimmediate and the following plan will bea big step in meeting these needs. The CRC Trustees have givenpermission to expand CRC’s residentialfacilities by building a series of HonorHousing Units on the CRC Campus. These units will be built in the styleof a triplex apartment structure andwill house upperclassmen and marriedstudents. Each 3,328 square foot unit willaccommodate 10 students. Constructioncost estimates range from $215,000 to$230,000 per unit.In December of 2010, CRC wasblessed with a special $100,000 gift, given by Joe A. and Wanda Johnsonof Pocahontas, Arkansas for the purposeof providing the seed gift to start thismuch needed housing project. TheJohnsons also made a substantial giftto set up the Joe A. and Wanda JohnsonEndowed Academic Scholarship Fund.We asked the Johnsons for permissionto use their names as we informed theCRC Family of their generous giftsand they granted that permission. TheJohnsons are not seeking recognition fortheir generosity, but are hopeful, as weare, that the announcement of their giftwill encourage other donors. A capitalcampaign is being launched to raise theadditional funds and you will hear moreabout this soon. The architectural planshave been completed and we are lookingforward to the construction of these newfacilities.Progress with Educational Programs:In 2008, CRC received the properregulatory authority to begin offeringdegrees at the baccalaureate level inaddition to the associate level degreesalready being offered. CRC now offers avariety of degree options, which include:• Associate in Biblical Studies• Associate of Arts in General Studies• Associate of Arts in Teaching• Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Studies• Bachelor of Science in BusinessAdministration• Bachelor of Science in BusinessAdministration with a Minor inBusiness Management• Bachelor of Science in BusinessAdministration with a Concentrationin Business Management• Bachelor of Science in BusinessAdministration with Minor inAccounting• Bachelor of Science in BusinessAdministration with a Concentrationin Accounting• Bachelor of Science in BusinessAdministration with a Minor inSports Management• Bachelor of Science in BusinessAdministration with a Concentrationin Sports ManagementNote: A minor requires 18-21 hours in aspecialty and a concentration requires 27-30hours in a specialtyAs we progress with our educationalprogram over the next several years, our plan includes the addition of severaladditional degrees in a variety ofdisciplines.Progress with CRC’s InstitutionalAdvancement Program: As theyears progress, generous CRC Donorscontinue to support CRC. CRC DAY 2011Sunday, June 12 - Goal is $75,000Our second goal is to have 100 Congregations participating onSunday, June 12 or any convenient Sunday. For the last two years, generous individual donors and congregations have given more than $68,000toward CRC Day. What a wonderful blessing CRC Day has been to Crowley’s Ridge College.100% of the funds given for CRC Day will be used by our Bible department and for Biblemajor scholarships and for other areas associated with providing a Christian education andenvironment for our students. Please ask the leaders of your congregation to be one of the 100congregations to join us for CRC Day.Here are some ways that congregations generally help with CRC Day:• Take up a special collection for CRC Day• Write a check from the church treasury (Some congregations are able to send $100, $250, $500or more and some are able to send $1,000 or several thousand)• Give all or part of their fifth Sunday contribution for CRC Day• Encourage everyone to put a contribution in a CRC Day boxSeveral of us are available to speak at your congregation. CRC has a new presentation that gives amore personal view of this important ministry to future church and community leaders. This type ofpresentation often helps a congregation have a more successful CRC Day.If you have questions about CRC Day or would like one of us to speak at your congregation, pleasecontact Richard Johnson at 870-236-6901 or toll-free at 800-264-1096 or email at rjohnson@crc.edu.Please remember CRC in your will and estate planningUpcoming Events• April 17-20 - CRC Lectureship• April 22 - Spirit of America featuringJim “The Rookie” Morris• MAY 7 - Commencement - 11:00 am,Hillcrest Church of ChristCRC Choralaires spring schedule:• Sunday, March 27 - Gainesville C of C, Gainesville, MO - 1:00 pm• Sunday, March 27 - Delaplaine C of C, Delaplaine, AR - 6:00 pm• Wednesday, March 30 - (with CRA Chorus) Southwest C of C,Jonesboro, AR - 7:00 pm• Wednesday, April 6 - Slicer St C of C, Kennett, MO - 7:00 pm• Sunday, April 10 - Gulf Shores C of C, Gulf Shores, AL• Tuesday, April 12 - Westminster Village, Spanish Fort, AL• Friday, April 15 - (Ambassadors) - Manila C of C, Manila, AR• Wednesday, April 27 - (with CRA Chorus), Hillcrest C of C,Paragould, AR - 5:30 pmCRCAlumniNewsStay up to date with CRC by visitingwww.crc.eduuuuuSpecial Events InformationOnline Class SchedulesProspective Student InformationSchedules for Volleyball, Men’s & Women’sBasketball, Baseball, Softball, and Soccer -Come support the Pioneers!Become a fan of Crowley’s Ridge College onCheck out thebutton on our website - WWW.crc.eduKeep up with all the great things our alumni are doing AND let us know of exciting news you would like to share!
