I strongly suspectthat as much as Conch Coloroffers a colorful look at theConch Republic, the mainattraction has always been KeyWest’s “One Human Family”persona. We are a tiny littleisland where diversity rules, where immigrants have alwaysfit in and sexuality is irrelevant, all of which leads to a stress-freelifestyle.Last week’s electionseems to indicate that Americansare slowly but surely buyinginto individual freedom, selfexpression, and dignity forall. These traits have longbeen a way of life in the ConchRepublic. Because we exudethese beliefs, folks from all overthe world check out ConchColor to get a glimpse of whatthey see as a utopian lifestyle.People are awed by seeing ourresidents living as free spiritsand being all they ever wanted tobe. It’s also easy to see thatanother repercussion of lastweek’s election is that we willfinally get a dream act, allowingnew residents to live and workwithout constantly havingto look over their shoulders. Here in the Conch Republic, most of us are the children orgrandchildren of immigrants.Cubans have always assimilatedquite well here, as have manyothers.TOM OOSTERHOUDTeditor&publisherFor the first time ever, three states voted to legalizegay marriage. Add these statesto those whose legislatureshave already legalized it and it’seasy to see that in a few yearsAmericans will look back andwonder how this public unionwas ever denied to such a small, harmless percentage of ourpopulation. Finally, the world onceagain will view America as thevision of the future. Many ofus were so embarrassed whenprevious presidents caused ourcountry to be subject to ridicule. One again, America will berespected as a leader in theglobal family.************************************************************It’s getting to be that time ofyear again, and I am once againplanning my annual Christmasparty for our incrediblecommunity. This year it will beon Thursday, December 20th,from 8 to 11 pm. Both ourformer Congresswoman and ournew Congressman will be onhand to wish everyone a happyholiday.I hope to be back on my feetagain for the party, as I continueon my road to recovery. It’s beenquite a journey. I only recentlydiscovered that my friendsDebbie Cardenas, Nance Frank,Carmelo Vitale, Mark Schmidt, and Anne Reynolds have allrecently had similar backoperations. AstrologicallyYoursAries: What ever you do don’t allow anyoneto goad you into doing something because ofyour pride or some sort of need for instantgratification, consider the source as well as thecircumstances you find yourself in. Sometimespeople are not as they seem and they can domean things just because at some level it makesthem feel better about themselves if they canbring you down to their level. Maybe thatperson needs to go.Taurus: If you find yourself having thoughtsabout somebody else when you are supposed tobe serious about your significant other enoughto make a commitment I would suggest youfind out what that is all about before you tieyourself to a relationship or partnership that isnot what you really want. Talks cheap especiallywhen it is your life and happiness that is on theline.Gemini: Do not allow anyone to charm youwith fancy words you must go with your gutfeeling especially when it comes to your life’swork or even your health (to you the twocould be inseparable) you must get the creditfor what you do and know simply getting themoney and kudos is not enough.Cancer: If you have problems you might wantto go and talk to a certified professional beforeyou go off the deep end making accusationsand pointing fingers simply because you are sofrustrated and feel so helpless. You must try to“see” what your agreements and expectationsinvolved concerning the whole. Were you clearon everything or were there some serious grayareas?Leo: Whenever you try to play the game ofdominance you must be sure of your objectiveand you must never lose site of it no matterwhat. Distractions can cause holes to form inyour presentation and believe me when I tellyou that your subject is fully aware of this.It may be serious to you and that is why it isdangerous because to them it is just anotherstrategic game.Virgo: When you compose a story the veryfirst thing that you must do is “flesh” out theplayers so that they are as real in your mind asthey are to become on paper or as the case maybe, in the sharing, other wise all you have isform with no substance and paper players burnwhen others strike matches and see clearly thatit is all just an illusion be very careful here.Libra: Well, if you can’t have love you canalways have the physical pleasure of acquisitionand the beauty it brings into your world. Setthe scene, play some heady music and danceif possible. Getting serious about collectingmeans that you decide where and how yourneeds are meet as well as with or by whom, especially if you have tired of being a martyr.Scorpio: There is something to be said forhaving your dreams come true and takingpride in what you have accomplishedthrough your hard work and timely actions. Finally you see the results of the detachmentyou have been forced to establish and inseeing this you know that you have changedat some definable level that has honed youlike polished steel you like it.Sagittarius: Don’t get so comfortable withall of your successes that you over look oneof the most important ingredients of trueIcon’s; firm your base now. You cannotexpect to build anything of any lasting valueunless you have authority over it of somekind. You must know where you standbefore you go any further with your plans Isuggest that you get it in writing.Capricorn: Wow, you are really driven. I seeyou on some sort of mission why I can’t tellexcept that you are afraid of being takenfor a ride financially. This is not good. Youare not seeing the real problem. You havenot gotten the lesson and unless you doyou are setting yourself up for a very realmelt down. It was you that put the blinderson and let those people set you up no onecould have done it without your permissiondo you get it?Aquarius: Is your pride really worth all thatyou have built over the years with yourhard work and discipline? You are in thestate of mind now that if you do somethingimpulsive you could destroy everything thatyou have been working toward with onehuge stubborn act of violent anger. It doesnot matter whether it is fair or not considerthe alternatives first then act.Pisces: You are in the driver’s seat and holdthe keys to the castle hopefully you are inthe mood to compromise and share thewealth and good fortune because otherwiseyou can count on having some prettystormy sessions with lots of people. Youractions must be impeccable for the nextlittle while remember when you put yourselfin a certain position you are responsible.Sylviabogart@yahoo.com Betterfly.com/astrega keysdirectory.com/astrega get intouch today for your Consultation/Reading/Tarot or to set up a party for your Girlsnight out, Bridal shower, group or event.Happy Holidays!Office Surgery for Carpal tunnel,Trigger finger, Dupuytren’sOrthopedic Surgery1111 12th St.#212, Key West “ WE WANT YOUR CRACKSA Concrete Restoration Company, specializing in concrete repair and painting. “
