USER INSTRUCTIONS1.1 Do not locate this fire immediately below a fixedsocket outlet.1.2 Do not use this fire in the immediate surroundings of abath, shower or swimming pool or any other area wherethe fire would come into contact with water.1.3 WARNING: Do not allow the fire to be covered or let the airinlet/outlet become obstructed as the appliance mayoverheat.1.4 This fire must stand on a level firm surface. Do not stand thefire on a carpet. Ensure that furniture, curtains etc. arepositioned no closer than 1 metre1.5 When the fire has been installed, the position of the plugmust be accessible.1.6 Where the electricity supply cable has to pass through afireplace, stone surround etc. ensure suitable rubberbushes are fitted at possible wear points.1.7 If installed in an open fireplace, blank off the chimney toreduce the risk of a back draught, which could cause thesafety cut-out to operate.1.8 If the electricity supply cable is damaged do not use theappliance until it has been replaced. For safety reasons thereplacement has to be carried out by Gazco, or a Gazcoservice agent or a similarly competent electrician.2.1 GENERAL1. IMPORTANT INFORMATION2. OPERATING INSTRUCTIONSYour fire is remote controlled and can be operated by thehand held infra red handset or by the buttons on theappliance.c) Push the ON/OFF button to turn on the fire effect. A beepwill be heard to confirm this action.d) Push the ‘flame’ button to change the flame effect and fuelbed. Continue pressing the button to cycle through the foureffects, until the desired one is reached. These are:<strong>Effect</strong>e) Push the LOW button to provide half heat output, i.e.1kW. Press again to turn low setting off.f) Push the HIGH button to provide full heat output i.e. 2kW.Press once again to turn the high setting off, or press LOW toturn the low setting on.g) Push the OFF button at any time to turn the fire off.h) The cassette fire should be turned off via the on/off switchwhen the heat or the light effect is not required.2.4 PLEASE NOTEDescription1 Pulsing fuel bed2 Slow pulsing fuel bed3 Low <strong>Flame</strong>4 Flickering fuel beda) The glass fibre log moulding may give off a slight smellwhen first used. This is normal and should disappear after aday or two.b) The fire is fitted with a thermal safety cutout, whichoperates if the appliance overheats. Should this happen,unplug and allow the heater to cool for 5 minutes. Check theair inlets/outlets for any obstruction. Plug in, switch on thefire and the cutout will re-set. The appliance should functioncorrectly again but if this is not the case, unplug once moreand have the fire checked by a competent electrician.2.2 LOCATION OF CONTROLSThe appliance button controls are located on the bottomright-hand side of the fire. These are positioned behind theframes, which hinges when pulled from this position.2.3 OPERATIONa) There is an on-off switch mounted on the right of the firebehind the ‘door’ on the frame. This needs to be turned onbefore the remote control will operate. The lights in the firewill flash once to indicate that the fire is ready to use.b) Ensure that the handset batteries are new and are insertedcorrectly. (When replacing the batteries, ensure the worn outbatteries are disposed of safely.) When using the handset,make sure that you are pointing it at the window of thecassette fire.2

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCEALWAYS UNPLUG FROM MAINS SUPPLY BEFORECLEANING OR UNDERTAKING ANY MAINTENANCE3.1 Fan heater - clean the air inlet (front and underside) andoutlet grilles regularly with a soft cloth or the nozzle of avacuum cleaner. Dust build-up will inhibit efficientmovement of the fan and can lead to the safety cut-outoperating.1abAR16583

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS1. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS1.1 Unpack the fire, remove all packaging and read any warninglabels carefully. Packaging should be disposed of at anappropriate recycling centre.1.2 Check that the fire’s voltage requirements are in accordancewith your electricity supply. Do not plug in/switch on at thisstage.1.3 Place the fire into position, ensuring the plug will reach thesocket. Please note, depending on your wall type, theopening may need extra clearance around the flex socketarea.1.4 Secure the flanges of the fire to the wall by using the 9screws and rawlplugs supplied.NOTE: some frames are particularly heavy and the fireneeds to be securely fastened to the wall. Depending onthe structure of the wall, different fixings from thoseprovided may be necessary.2. FAULT FINDING2.1 If there is no illumination of log effect, first change the13amp fuse for one, which you know, works. If the fire stilldoes not work, check the socket by plugging in an applianceyou know is working. Check the appliance flex plug issecurely inserted into the appliances’ socket. If this too failsto operate, call in a competent electrician to check thesocket.2.2 Illumination but no heat - the safety cut-out has operated toprotect against overheating. See note in OperatingInstructions above but, in particular; ensure the air inlet andoutlet grilles are free of dust or any other obstruction.2.3 Remote control fails to work - First check that the batteriesare new and correctly fitted. Ensure that the handset ispointing at the window of the cassette fire and that it is being5

The instructions assume that the wire has beencutWARNING – FAILURE TO CONNECT THE WIRES CORRECTLYCOULD PUT PEOPLE AT RISK FROM ELECTRIC SHOCK OR FIRE.IF IN DOUBT CONSULT A QUALIFIED ELECTRICIAN.1. Dispose of the old plug safely.2. Expose 4cm of the coloured wires. Depending on the design ofplug being used:• Trim the coloured wires to the correct lengths so thatthey neatly fit to the correct terminals.• Ensure that the Earth wire has more slack than any of theother wires.• Remove some of the insulation to leave about 1cm ofexposed metal core on each wire.• Twist the strands of the wire together3. To connect the wires to the correct terminals:• Loosen the screw heads above each terminal• Push the metal wire into the hole beneath eachscrew head4. Ensure that the insulation reaches right up to each terminal asillustrated and there are no loose strands of wire.5. Fit the flex firmly onto the cord-grip making sure that the gripfastens onto the plastic sleeve of the flex and tighten screws.6. Read the technical specification in these instructions to seewhat rating of Fuse is required and fit the correct fuse in the plug7. Fit the plug cover and make sure that the plug is not crackedor chipped.THIS APPLLIANCE MUST BE EARTHEDOr, for other plug designs:- Wind the metal wire around the screw- Tighten each screw6
