<strong>Scope</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Work</strong>1 INTRODUCTIONGladstone Ports Corporation (GPC) is currently undertaking a substantial dredgingproject in the Gladstone Harbour (<strong>Western</strong> <strong>Basin</strong> <strong>Dredging</strong> Project). The purpose <strong>of</strong>the dredging project is to create a major shipping channel to be utilised by a number<strong>of</strong> LNG proponents on Curtis Isl<strong>and</strong>.In order to dredge the channel, GPC must abide a number <strong>of</strong> permits <strong>and</strong>management plans; one requirement is to meet the criteria <strong>of</strong> the EcosystemResearch <strong>and</strong> Monitoring Program (ERMP). The ERMP was developed to acquire adetailed ecological underst<strong>and</strong>ing <strong>of</strong> the marine environment <strong>of</strong> Port Curtis <strong>and</strong> PortAlma that can be used to monitor, manage <strong>and</strong>/or improve the regional marineenvironment <strong>and</strong> to <strong>of</strong>fset potential impacts from the project on listed threatened <strong>and</strong>migratory species <strong>and</strong> values <strong>of</strong> the Great Barrier Reef World Heritage Area <strong>and</strong>National Heritage Place.The scope <strong>of</strong> this work is to conduct review <strong>and</strong> gap analysis <strong>of</strong> existing data <strong>and</strong>projects for mangrove <strong>and</strong> saltmarsh monitoring.1.1 DETAILED SCOPE OF WORKMangrove <strong>and</strong> Saltmarsh MonitoringThe Contractor is required to conduct the following:Undertake a review <strong>of</strong> available scientific literature, relevant technical reports<strong>and</strong> academic theses on mangrove <strong>and</strong> saltmarsh tidal extent, condition inCentral Queensl<strong>and</strong>, particularly the Port Curtis <strong>and</strong> Port Alma region;Within the review, include a collation <strong>and</strong> synopses <strong>of</strong> the full extent <strong>of</strong> tidalwetl<strong>and</strong>s in the Port Curtis <strong>and</strong> Port Alma region;Assess the data obtained in the review to determine any quantitativemangrove <strong>and</strong> saltmarsh trends relevant to the Port Curtis <strong>and</strong> Port Almaregion; <strong>and</strong>Identify mangrove <strong>and</strong> saltmarsh information/data gaps for the Port Curtis <strong>and</strong>Port Alma region.The Gladstone Ports Corporation will provide the Contractor with any relevant reportsthat they hold to be used for review <strong>and</strong> gap analysis.Document Number: 781178


<strong>Scope</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Work</strong>2 Contractor SelectionThe following criteria will be used for Contractor scoring assessment:Contractor has the quantitative skills <strong>and</strong> s<strong>of</strong>tware necessary toundertake relevant statistical analyses required in this review (20%);Contractor has demonstrable experience <strong>and</strong> knowledge aboutAustralian mangroves <strong>and</strong> saltmarshes (50%);Contractor has worked in applied settings where budgetary <strong>and</strong> otherconstraints are integrated with scientific best practices (20%); <strong>and</strong>All potentially useful sources <strong>of</strong> data listed (10%).3 DeliverablesThe Contractor is required to develop a report relevant to this scope <strong>of</strong> work within 6months <strong>of</strong> contract execution.4 CostA flat fee <strong>of</strong> $20,000.00 will be awarded to best tender.Document Number: 781178
