Diseases are a con3tant threat and often a limiting factor in the
cultivation of pulse crops in Iran. In the drier areas aiseases caused by
viruses and root rot fungi were seen most frequently and were of greatest
economic importance, while foliai diseases were usually confined to the wetter
regions of the country. The diseases of beans, broadbeans, chickpeas, cowpeas,
lentils, mungbeans, and peas that occur in Iran are listed and sume
observations on their importance and distribution within the country are made.
Mungbean mosaic virus, an aphid-transmitted, seedborne virus, is one of the
most important and widespread virus diseases in Iran. Yields from infected
plants ,jere decreased 31 to 75%. A crown rot of munghean incited by Rhizoctonia
solani caused 4 Zo 57% mortality in young plantings. [AS]

The -effect of systemic fungitoxicants actidione, Vitavax and benomyl on
ureide metabolism of germinating i2eeas of groundnut (Arachis hypogaea L.),
soybean (Glycine max (L.) Merr., mungbean (Vigna radiata Wilczek) and
