The Ultimate Suzie dePoo Exhibit Now At The Studios of <strong>Key</strong> <strong>West</strong>Photos by Tom OosterhoudtThe Studios of <strong>Key</strong> <strong>West</strong> is now proudly exhibiting the mostcomplete collection of the works of the late <strong>Key</strong> <strong>West</strong> artistSuzie dePoo that any gallery has ever attempted, largelythanks to to the many collectors who have loaned theirworks for the exhibition.An early self portrait of Suzie.Suzie dePoo spenther lifetime – a decadeshy of a century– developing hermastery of variousartistic mediums,creating and displayingher work for sixtyyears in <strong>Key</strong> <strong>West</strong>.The Studios of <strong>Key</strong><strong>West</strong> is presentingthe major exhibition“The Classic Romantic:The Legacy ofAgnes Helen Zuzek”in the Main Hall ofthe Historic Armoryand the TSKWSculpture Garden, onview through May 6.Curated by MarthaBarnes and assistedby dePoo’s family andthe artist, Jane Grannis,the exhibitionhonors Suzie dePoo’slegacy and showcasesover 100 artworks,personal items andartifacts from herestate and privatecollections. A film ofher life is also beingscreened. “This legacyexhibition is a collectionof her work thatcelebrates her uniquegifts and, in doing so,celebrates her beliefthat all living entitieshave unique giftsto explore, developand offer,” said herdaughter Kathryn.Suzie loved her “angels” in many mediums.Suzie was one of the first artists of her dayto use shards of colored glass in her wiresculptures and mobiles.Suzie was mesmerized by peacocks,and always kept some as personal petsaround her home.Curator Martha Barnes painstakingly recreated some of the objects used asmodels that were still in Suzie’s home when she passed away.This amazing tile art of Suzie’s features her grandchildren.
