Visual and Performing ArtsClassroom BuildingsPhase IvDevelopingstudentsintellectually,physicallyand sociallyAs one of the most popular disciplines at <strong>Garces</strong> <strong>Memorial</strong>, theDepartment of Fine and Performing Arts is an interdependentcollection of disciplines which singly and collectively develop commonideals of cultural knowledge, intellectual honesty, and personalcreativity. The department strives to provide the spiritual, cultural, andsocial background and training necessary to effect this development.<strong>Garces</strong> <strong>Memorial</strong> fully understands the value of offering a strong visualand performing arts program for its students. Therefore, with coursesin the arts of all types surging in popularity, the construction of largerand more inclusive buildings is necessary.Tuition AssistanceEndowment<strong>Garces</strong> <strong>Memorial</strong> <strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong> Foundation currently operates a $3.5million endowment, with approximately $1.5 million dedicated to tuitionassistance and the remaining $2 million unrestricted.With the rising cost of education, we want to be affordable to alldeserving Catholic families. Through an increased endowment wewill be able to provide significant tuition assistance to deservingstudents. We never want cost to be the reason a student doesn’tattend <strong>Garces</strong> <strong>Memorial</strong>.


GymnasiumNearly 70% of <strong>Garces</strong> <strong>Memorial</strong> students participate in our athleticprograms, thus facilities are over stretched. The athletic program at <strong>Garces</strong><strong>Memorial</strong>, currently ranked 4th all time with 101 section team championships,is one of the most successful in the history of the CIF CentralSection. Athletics has a profound impact on the physical andsocial growth of a student.With the successful renovation of Sam Tobias Field, and the completionof Phase II, the aquatics center and tennis complex, a new gymnasium isthe next step in completing a state-of-the-art athletic facility allowing us tomaintain a high level of athletic competition.The new gymnasium will provide additional court space, allowing ourteams to have practice times more conducive to the academicdemands required of the <strong>Garces</strong> <strong>Memorial</strong> athlete.The proposed gymnasium will accommodate up to 1,000spectators and rival the best in Kern County.Phase IV - $11 million


Where Your Fund the Future Dollars GoEvery year, through various fund raising strategies, <strong>Garces</strong> <strong>Memorial</strong> <strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong> volunteersand supporters donate nearly $900,000 to the school to keep tuition affordable for all students.The chart below shows how your Fund the Future donation will make a difference.Net revenue from <strong>Garces</strong><strong>Memorial</strong> <strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong>special events willcontinue to support tuitionsubsidies for everystudent.
