be developed. These prograss should be short term and<br />

preferably be given in Somalia. The problems and conditions<br />

existing in-country shauld serve as the basis for any additional<br />

training. Ail too often, training received in other countries<br />

has limited application %hen trainees retu,m. Conditions<br />

in-country are dif Zeuent , and the high-tethnoXogy equipment on<br />

which they ti-vs trained is often lacking.<br />

Areas fn vhich adOftia~n1 trainicg for current eIEp10yces<br />

should be cansidered inclzde; hydrogeologic report preparation,<br />

driver education, welding, pu~p naintenance and repair, and<br />

English language, Kydrugeoiogic report preparation should be<br />

taught to those hydrugeologists that have a good grasp of the<br />

overall tasks perfamed in groundvater investigations. Nearly<br />

all publfcatians in SaaaPfa pertaining ro groundwater have been<br />

prepare6 by a-rltsfde rons.~ltants. Personnel of WDA should learn<br />

how to conduct regional hydroqeologfc investigations and how to<br />

prepare mean ing Eul reports. Kith the current available<br />

database, regional reports, or other divisional unit reports,<br />

should be prepared. These repores shauld be made available to<br />

ather agencies aad to the general public vhe~ large water-using<br />

pro-jects are ndsr consideraffsn.<br />

Driver educativn c~usses, both classroom and practical, are<br />

especially important for thcsa individuals driving heavy duty<br />

trucks and the drillizg rigs+ The large number of vehicle<br />

repairs could be significantly reduced by improved driving<br />

standards, Trazsmlssfons, brakes, tires, etc. could be saved<br />

from excessive usar and failure if traineO drivers were assigned<br />
