They are a driving force in changing the way the police work with our communities and give advice and support to those affected by homophobic and transphobic violence or hate crime. Galop’s main services are: • Helpline and advocacy • Consultation and development of policy • Training • Research If you have experienced, witnessed or know of a hate crime incident in the Greater London area and you would like to report it; you can do so visiting the Galop website and completing the Report Form. Galop can report information to the police on your behalf; your details will be completely confidential and, if you wish, you can remain anonymous. Galop’s Shoutline Galop also runs a telephone helpline service called the Shoutline. You can use this to report homophobia or transphobia or get advice on hate crime you have experienced. Galop can help you with the following: • Free and confidential advice and assistance • Advocate on your behalf with the police or other organisations • Report a crime to the police on your behalf • Advise you about injunctions • Provide you with details of LGBT­friendly solicitors and police officers • Make a complaint against the police Galop’s telephone helpline is open at the following times: Mondays from 5pm to 8pm Wednesdays from 2pm to 5pm Fridays from 12noon to 2pm A 24­hour answer phone service is available and Galop will respond to messages. Shoutline can also receive text messages 24­hours a day although they can only respond to messages during the opening hours stated. Galop welcome calls using the RNID/BT TypeTalk service.
