Community Mental Health Teams (CMHT)<br />
The teams deal with anyone who is seriously<br />
mentally ill or significantly vulnerable and at<br />
significant risk. Although a referral from your GP<br />
is preferred, an agency or carer can refer you and<br />
you can refer yourself. When referring (by letter or<br />
phone) please tell the team:<br />
1 your name, address and date <strong>of</strong> birth;<br />
2 a brief description <strong>of</strong> current difficulties<br />
and symptoms;<br />
3 past psychiatric history (if known);<br />
4 any concerns about risk;<br />
5 details <strong>of</strong> any medication;<br />
6 your attitude towards being referred<br />
if someone else is referring you; and<br />
7 language spoken.<br />

Older Person’ Community Mental Health Team<br />
Provides help and support for people aged 65 or<br />
over who live in <strong>Barking</strong> and <strong>Dagenham</strong> and have<br />
mental health need.<br />

Travelling Day Hospital<br />
A community based rehabilitation service for people<br />
suffering from severe and enduring mental health<br />
problems. They provide psychosocial support and<br />
practical support at Curzon Centre (Bastable Avenue,<br />
<strong>Barking</strong>, Monday to Thursday), St Andrew’s Hall<br />
(Rogers Road, <strong>Dagenham</strong>, Friday) and at clients<br />
homes. You can be referred as an inpatient by<br />
Community Mental Health Team.<br />

Marshalls Park Hospital<br />
This hospital cares for and treats adults and elderly<br />
people from <strong>Barking</strong> and <strong>Dagenham</strong> and Havering<br />
who have mental health problems. The service is<br />
provided by North East London Mental Health Trust.<br />
They provide mental health inpatient acute <strong>services</strong>,<br />
a rehabilitation unit and the main administration<br />
block for the Mental Health Act and medical<br />
records <strong>services</strong>.<br />

(NELMHT)<br />
Provides mental health <strong>services</strong> in the London<br />
Boroughs <strong>of</strong> <strong>Barking</strong> and <strong>Dagenham</strong>, Havering,<br />
Redbridge and Waltham Forest. They provide a range<br />
<strong>of</strong> specialist <strong>services</strong> including hospitalbased<br />
<strong>services</strong> and <strong>services</strong> in the community. They work<br />
closely with local authorities and voluntary<br />
organisations.<br />
