Belize became a UN member state in 1981 and immediately began covertly sterilizing its people.As a result, its total fertility rate has declined from 6.3 to 3 children per woman to date.The first prime minister after independence, George Cadle Price (served as First Minister ofBritish Honduras from 1961-1964, Premier of British Honduras from 1964 to 1973, Premier ofBelize from 1973 to 1981, and Prime Minister from 1981 to 1984) is responsible for bringing theBelizean people into the Global Depopulation Policy. Every prime minister since has stayed thecourse: Manuel Esquivel (1984-1989, 1993-1998), Said Musa (1998-2008), and the incumbentDean Barrow (since February 2008).The total fertility graph shows that Belize escaped covert depopulation measures far longer thanits neighbors, despite being a British colony.
