Swiss policy makers have been able to bypass their country’s democratic processes in order tocommit genocide by sheltering the votes taken by the Federal Council members from publicscrutiny for a period of 50 years, for that is how long they remain sealed. Since the vote tocommit genocide took place in 1964, the seal will expire in 2015. It will be interesting to see ifthe decisions taken in 1964 will indeed be revealed to the Swiss public.Since contraceptive use throughout the 1960s was insignificant, and Switzerland reachedreplacement level fertility by 1970, the fertility decline was accomplished solely through covertchemical sterilization via fluoridated salt (and in the city of Geneva also through fluoridatedwater). Even today’s rate of 78% cannot possibly account for Switzerland’s sub-replacementlevel fertility of 1.5 children per woman.Furthermore, any comparative analysis of Switzerland’s contraceptive prevalence rate and totalfertility rate from 1964 until today clearly shows that there is no correlation between one and theother. That is to say, whether contraceptive use rises or drops it has no effect on fertility sincefertility is suppressed by the government through fluoridated salt and not by couples throughcontraceptives.Abortion is even less of a factor in Switzerland’s’ fertility decline. The historical record showsthat Switzerland’s abortion rate has been stable at c. 14% since the 1980s.As elsewhere in the world, Switzerland too was rewarded with a growing GDP as soon as itreached replacement level fertility in 1970.Switzerland is in stage four of the demographic transition but it would have already crossed intostage five were it not for its high net migration rate of 5.5 migrants for every 1000 people.809 | P a g e
