But Latvians do not need any contraceptivessince the vast majority of them are subfertile or sterile. On the rare occasions when they domanage to conceive, abortion comes to the rescue. During the 1980s and 1990s, the historicalrecord shows that more than 50% of all pregnancies ended with an abortion. During the firstdecade of the 21 st century the abortion rate decreased to 40% and in the second decade to 25%.Thus, as conception has decreased due to covert chemical poisoning so have the abortion andcontraceptive rates. The latter has decreased so much that it is too low to report.That Latvia’s total fertility rate has been below 1.4 children per woman since 1994 and itspopulation has been decreasing since 1991, therefore, has nothing to do with contraceptive andonly marginally to do with abortion. Latvia’s low sub-replacement level fertility is primarily theresult of covert chemical sterilization with endocrine disruptors.Whatever economic potential Latvia could reach it has already reached.So long as its population decreases and ages the country will get poorer from year to year, as thestatistics plainly demonstrate.Latvia is in the fifth and last stage of the demographic transition.439 | P a g e
