As a result, the total fertility rate decreased from nearly 3 childrenper woman prior to 1996 to less than 2 today.As a nuclear power, North Korea mostcertainly fluoridates either the water or thesalt, which is why the government no longerneeds to encourage families to have only oneor two children, as it did during the 1970s.Your country’s population pyramid clearlyshows that the cohorts of the most recentgenerations are declining as a result of covertmethods of population control following thegreat famine of 1995-8.Population control is undoubtedly part and parcel of North Korea’s policy of self-reliance andgiven the chronic problems you have to feed your people one can see why it is necessary. I urgeyou however to abandon all covert methods of depopulation encouraged by the UN and itswestern sponsors and to adopt open and legislative means as China has done since 1978. Thiswill help the rest of the world achieve peace without poison and a framework of internationalcooperation that does not involve genocide.I urge you also to empower your UN ambassador, Mr. Ja Song Nam, to initiate reform of the UNsystem, as I have described in my recently published and freely available book, The Future ofGlobal Governance.
