The military may have had good reasons tointerfere in what was indeed a flawed and racist political process but it has no right whatsoever to covertlypoison the Fijian people into infertility and ill-health in order to accomplish demographic objectives thatare indeed necessary but that do not justify genocide.The decision to fluoridate the country’s tap water and to force the people under threat of fines andimprisonment to only purchase and use fluoridated toothpaste lends a ridiculous character to youradministration’s efforts to pretend that it is doing this in the name of healthy teeth. The NationalToothbrushing Day charade is unbecoming of serious statesmen and does not fool anyone.You are an island nation and, as everyone knows who has ever lived on an island, there are no secrets onislands. And since most Fijians know that your military government is intent on rendering them sterile soas to qualify for IMF loans and UN largesse, it is highly unlikely that this exercise in dictatorship can endwell. That is why I urge you to change course and pursue legislative means to reduce the total fertilityrate of Fiji to replacement level, as the IMF and the UN demand and do so for good reasons.You assumed total control of the political process in order to set the nation on the right path and secure abetter future for your children. Poisoning Fiji’s children with endocrine disruptors will condemn them tostunted minds and enfeebled bodies and will sap the vigor of your nation for generations to come.
