CRIME PREVENTION TIPS
Stop yourself becoming a target for thieves targeting vehicles
by following our handy tips below.
Make sure you lock your car every time you leave it, even if
it’s only for 2 minutes! Do not leave Sat Navs and other
valuable items in your vehicle. Sat Navs have been stolen in 5
of the offences that took place this week.When leaving your
vehicle make sure all your windows are closed as well as your
sunroof. Think it’s safe to leave things in your boot? It’s not;
offenders can get in here as well!
Men Sentenced For Sexual Offences Against Two Teenagers
Amid Khan (11/06/1976) of Cloverhall Crescent, Rochdale was found
guilty of three counts of rape, three cases of sexual assault and an
exposure. He was jailed on Monday 27th April for fourteen years.
Gul Zaman (06/07/1972) of The Normans, Slough was found guilty
of two counts of sexual assault and jailed for two years nine months.
In July 2012, Zaman was introduced to one of the victims, an
eighteen year old woman, and befriended her. He supplied her with
alcohol and drugs before he was introduced to one of her friends, a
sixteen year old boy. On a number of occasions, Zaman picked them
up in his car and drove around Rochdale supplying them both with
alcohol and cigarettes. He often took them to his home at the time on
Clovehall Crescent and offered to pay them both for sex, which they
refused. During the summer of 2012, Zaman sexually assaulted the
woman at his house. The victims were also taken to another address
in Rochdale, known as the ‘party flat’, where they were befriended by
Amid Khan and were given drugs and alcohol. Here Khan
raped the boy twice. The woman was also raped
and sexually assaulted by Khan at other
addresses in Rochdale. After being assaulted by
Khan at a hotel, the victim confided to a college
teacher and the police were contacted.
POLICE NEWSFLASH NORDEN
There have recently been nine incidents of
domestic burglary. These were on Harewood Drive,
Bagslate Moor Road, Shearing Avenue,
Woodhouse Lane, Bury and
Rochdale Old Road, Clayfield
Drive, Clay Lane, Edenfield
Road and Kendal
Avenue.There have
recently also been
nineteen incidents of
vehicle crime. This also
includes criminal
damage to vehicles.
THERE HAS BEEN ONE CASE OF CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO A
VEHICLE ON EDENFIELD ROAD.
There have also been sixteen incidents of theft from vehicles on
Bagslate Moor Road, Brooks End, Bankfield Drive, Farnely Close,
Wickentree, Merebank Close, Shearing Avenue, Clay Lane, Pintail
Close, Inglefield, Ashworth Road, Albury Drive, Highfield Road,
Fisherfield and two incidents on Edenfield Road.There were also two
incidents of attempted theft from vehicles on Blackpitts Road and
Weythorne Drive.
Norden PACT Meetings are held on a monthly basis. Future meetings
are:-Tuesday 9th June. All meetings begin at 18:30 at Norden Old
Library.
POLICE NEWSFLASH BAMFORD
There have recently been seven incidents of domestic burglary on
Brimrod Lane, Cranbourne, Highlands Road, Norden Road, South
View and two cases on Spencer Lane. There was also a case of
attempted domestic burglary on Spencer Lane.
There have also recently been seven incidents of vehicle crime. This
also includes criminal damage to vehicles.
There have been five cases of theft from a vehicle. These were on War
Office Road, Claremont Road, Bury Road and two cases on Marland
Old Road. There was also one case of attempted theft of a vehicle on
Oxford Road. There was also a case of criminal damage to a vehicle
on Bury Road where the offender smashed the windscreen and rear
passenger window of a vehicle. However, the offender was arrested by
officers at the scene.

CRIME FIGURES
In the 12 months to April 2015, total Crime in the Rochdale area
was down on previous year’s figures by 12%. For the same time
period in the Rochdale North Neighbourhood, Criminal Damage and
Arson were down by 5%, Robbery was also down by 17% whilst
Burglary is down by 4%.
