Cancellation of adhesive stamps.(1) (a) Whoever affixes any adhesive stamp to any <strong>in</strong>strumentchargeable with duty which has been executed by any person shall, whenaffix<strong>in</strong>g such stamp, cancel the same so that it cannot be used aga<strong>in</strong>; and(b) Whoever executes any <strong>in</strong>strument on any paper bear<strong>in</strong>g anadhesive stamp shall, at the time of execution, unless such stamp has beenalready cancelled <strong>in</strong> the manner aforesaid, cancel the same so that it cannot beused aga<strong>in</strong>.(2) Any <strong>in</strong>strument bear<strong>in</strong>g an adhesive stamp which has not beencancelled so that it cannot be used aga<strong>in</strong>, shall, so far as such stampisconcerned, be deemed to be unstamped.(3) The person required by sub-section (1) to cancel an adhesive stampmay cancel it by writ<strong>in</strong>g on or across the stamp his name or<strong>in</strong>itials or thename or <strong>in</strong>itials or his firm with the true date of his so writ<strong>in</strong>g, or <strong>in</strong> any othereffectual manner.___________________1.
